Marlins recalled RHP Kendry Flores from Double-A Jacksonville.
He'll join Miami's bullpen following Steve Cishek's demotion. Acquired from the Giants in the Casey McGehee deal over the winter, Flores posted a 2.06 ERA over nine starts in Double-A this season.
Tigers purchased the contract of INF Josh Wilson from Triple-A Toledo.
He'll fill the roster spot of Hernan Perez, who was claimed off waivers by the Brewers. The 34-year-old Wilson is a .226/.278/.316 career hitter and will provide some infield depth.
Indians prospect SS Francisco Lindor went 4-for-6 with a home run and three runs scored on Monday in a double header for Triple-A Columbus.
Lindor’s three hits in the first game included his second home run of the season, but it was just his first multi-hit game since May 17. Suffice it to say the 21-year-old hasn’t thrived this season in Triple-A as the Indians surely hoped, as he’s batting .262/.340/.374 with 14 extra-base hits and a 57.1% success rate on the base paths (8-for-14). However, Lindor’s slow start in the minors this minors shouldn’t prevent him from reaching the major leagues in the coming months.
Adeiny Hechavarria (shoulder) is back in Tuesday's lineup against the Cubs.
Hechavarria ended up missing three straight games with a bruised left shoulder. The Marlins are confident that it won't be a long-term issue.
Blue Jays prospect OF Dalton Pompey went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks and three runs scored on Monday for Triple-A Buffalo.
Pompey has struggled mightily since his early season demotion from the major leagues to Triple-A, as he’s batting just .197/.291/.237 through 19 games. That, of course, comes after he posted a .193/.264/.337 batting line in 23 games with Toronto. The 22-year-old switch-hitter is still considered one of the organization’s top prospects, but it’s clear he has some issues to work through at the plate before returning to the major leagues.
Brewers designated INF Elian Herrera for assignment.
The move clears a spot for the newly-claimed Hernan Perez. Herrera, 30, was batting .212 with four home runs and .633 OPS over 38 games this season and wasn't going to be a long-term piece for Milwaukee.
Brewers claimed INF Hernan Perez off waivers from the Brewers.
Perez owns a .160/.189/.179 batting line through 113 plate appearances in the majors, but he's just 24 years old and can play all over the infield. The Brewers designated Elian Herrera for assignment in order to make room for him on the 40-man roster.
Kevin Slowey has joined the MLBPA as a special assistant to executive director Tony Clark.
Slowey pitched with the Marlins last season, but he failed to make the Phillies' Opening Day roster out of spring training this year. He's still just 31 years old, but it looks like he's moving on from his playing career.
