Jon Gray (toe) allowed four runs (three earned) over six innings in a minor league game on Wednesday.

Gray got stretched out to 88 pitches and allowed five hits while walking none and striking out seven. He left his scheduled start last Friday due to left foot soreness, but an MRI on his toe came back negative and there weren't any signs of an issue Wednesday. He should be good to go for the start of the season.

Randal Grichuk left Wednesday's Grapefruit League finale after he was hit on the right hand by a pitch.

Grichuk was removed for a pinch-runner. It's too soon to say if it's anything serious, as the Cardinals are surely being extra careful this close to Opening Day. We should hear an update soon.

Indians manager Terry Francona said Tuesday that Carlos Santana is likely to bat leadoff to begin the season.

Santana made 85 starts out of the leadoff spot last season and 59 out of the fifth spot. He's probably the best option to leadoff at this time, but things could change once the Indians have all of their regulars back in the lineup.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Daniel Norris (dead arm) played catch without incident on Tuesday.

Norris was knocked around for nine runs over three innings against the Braves on Monday and later said that he was dealing with a "dead arm," but it sounds like he's already doing better. Barring something unexpected, he should be fine for the start of the regular season.

Hudson Belinsky of Baseball America reports that the Dodgers will sign right-hander Jair Jurrjens to a minor league deal.

The Dodgers apparently liked what they saw from Jurrjens during his stint with Team Netherlands in the recent World Baseball Classic. The 31-year-old hasn't pitched in the majors since 2014 as a member of the Rockies. He didn't pitch in affiliated ball last year.

Chris Stewart (groin) is scheduled to catch back-to-back nine-inning games later this week.

The Pirates are hoping that Stewart can demonstrate that he's over his recent groin strain. He's slated to serve as Francisco Cervelli's primary backup.

Padres optioned RHP Kevin Quakenbush to Triple-A El Paso; reassigned C Tony Cruz, RHP Carlos Fisher, and INFs Jamie Romak and Brett Wallace to minor league camp.

Quackenbush was tagged for 11 runs on 14 hits and seven walks over 10 1/3 innings this spring. He'll try to earn his way back to the Padres' bullpen.

Enrique Hernandez (wrist) will try to hit on Thursday.

Hernandez was hit on the right wrist by a pitch on Tuesday, but fortunately X-rays came back negative. He's understandably a bit sore right now, but there's still a couple of days for him to prove his health before the start of the regular season.
