Red Sox optioned C Blake Swihart to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Christian Vazquez will back up Sandy Leon in Boston, at least to open the season. Swihart, 24, is a .271/.328/.386 career hitter at the major league level.

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Rangers have recently scouted Wily Peralta and may have interest in acquiring the right-hander.

The Rangers are in the market for upgrades to their starting rotation, preferably one that would be under team control for several seasons, and Peralta fits the bill. The 27-year-old right-hander finished the 2016 season strong and has pitched well in Cactus League play this spring. He's in line to earn $4.28 million in 2017 and is under team control through the 2021 season.

Greg Holland is scheduled to pitch in back-to-back Cactus League games for the first time on Monday and Tuesday.

The veteran right-hander, who is now expected to begin the season as the Rockies' closer, owns a 4.91 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 6/2 K/BB ratio across 3 2/3 innings so far in Cactus League play. His health is certainly a concern, but Holland looks to be a considerable bargain in the middle rounds of fantasy drafts.

The Reds are expected to carry a second left-hander in their Opening Day bullpen, with either Lucas Luetge or Wandy Peralta joining Tony Cingrani.

Luetge, a non-roster invitee, owns a 1.93 ERA in what has been an impressive spring and looks like the leading candidate for the role. He won't hold any fantasy value though outside of deep NL-only formats that count holds.

Brody Chernof, the son of Indians' general manager Mike Chernof, told Tom Hamilton during Sunday's broadcast that his father is trying to lock up Francisco Lindor for seven years.

Chernof was a guest in the booth and was asked by the veteran announcer if the elder Chernof was working on any deals at the moment. The Indians just finalized a contract extension with Jose Ramirez, and locking up Lindor would certainly be high on their list of priorities.

Jefry Marte went 1-for-4 with a double and three RBI as the Angels fell to the Royals in Cactus League play on Sunday.

Marte's bases-clearing double off Jason Hammel capped off a six-run fifth inning but wouldn't be enough to lead the Angels to victory. Marte has done a nice job at the dish this spring, hitting .300 with three homers and 13 RBI. He'll open the season in a reserve role for the Halos.

J.C. Ramirez struggled in Sunday's Cactus League start against the Royals, surrendering five runs on eight hits over his 4 2/3 innings of work.

Pitching to perhaps secure a spot in the club's opening day rotation, Ramirez turned in perhaps his worst start of the spring. He was tagged for a pair of homers in the contest, with Paulo Orlando and Brandon Moss each leaving the yard during a four-run fourth inning. He now sports a 5.91 ERA in Cactus League competition.

Athletics optioned C Bruce Maxwell to Triple-A Nashville.

The 26-year-old went out on a high note, blasting his first two homers of the Cactus League season on Sunday prior to his demotion. He finishes the spring hitting .282 with seven RBI. He'll assuredly get an opportunity with the A's during the 2017 season.
