Donovan Solano reached base in all five plate appearances in Tuesday's win over the Braves, drawing a walk, hitting a double, and tallying three singles.

It's the first four-hit game of Solano's career. The Marlins could only bring him around to score once, however. Solano hasn't had much to write home about at the plate otherwise, as his slash line has improved to a still-paltry .261/.309/.322 with one home run and 12 RBI in 126 plate appearances.

J.A. Happ improved to 8-5 after shutting the Red Sox out over six innings as the Blue Jays went on to win 7-3 on Tuesday.

The Red Sox didn't mount much of a threat against Happ, scratching out only two extra-base hits (both doubles). The lefty allowed seven hits overall, while walking one and striking out four. Happ has turned in a few gems this season, but has for the most part been mediocre, as evidenced by his 4.55 ERA, 1.53 ERA, and 68/34 K/BB ratio. He's scheduled to take on the Yankees on the road on Sunday next.
Jul 22 - 10:37 PM

Jake Peavy was hit hard by the Blue Jays on Tuesday, allowing five runs over six innings in a loss, which brought his record to a disappointing 1-9.

Peavy had been throwing the ball better over his last three starts, but the buck stopped with the Blue Jays, who belted two home runs and two doubles, accounting for half of the eight hits surrendered by the right-hander. Peavy also walked three and struck out seven. He now has a 4.72 ERA, a 1.43 WHIP, and a 100/46 K/BB ratio. He'll try to bounce back against the surging Rays on the road on Sunday.
Jul 22 - 10:30 PM

David Ortiz hit another home run, finishing 2-for-5 overall in a loss to the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Ortiz blasted a pair of home runs in Monday's rout of the Jays, but the rest of the lineup wasn't able to support pitcher Jake Peavy. Ortiz went yard in the eighth inning, a solo shot off of Dustin McGowan. The veteran DH continues to be productive, now with 23 home runs, 69 RBI, and a .253/.349/.500 slash line.
Jul 22 - 10:28 PM

Shane Victorino singled three times in four at-bats, scoring once, but the Red Sox suffered a defeat to the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Victorino has been swinging a hot bat in three games since returning from the disabled list, hitting safely in each contest. He now has six hits in 11 plate appearances, though only one of those six hits has gone for extra bases (a double). It's been an injury-plagued year for Victorino, and he's only slashing .275/.303/.382 with one home run, 10 RBI, and two stolen bases in 110 plate appearances.
Jul 22 - 10:25 PM

Melky Cabrera finished with a trio of hits and a pair of runs batted in over five at-bats as the Blue Jays defeated the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Cabrera has notched three three-hit games out of his last four contests. He knocked in the game's first run with a single in the third, and added some insurance with an RBI single in the seventh to make it 5-0. The outfielder is having a nice season, slashing .309/.355/.467 with 12 home runs, 50 RBI, and five stolen bases.
Jul 22 - 10:22 PM

Jose Reyes stole a base, homered, and doubled in a run in five at-bats as the Jays slugged their way to a win against the Red Sox on Tuesday.

For Reyes, the two extra-base hits equaled his total over the previous two weeks. His solo shot in the sixth inning off of Jake Peavy gave the Jays a 2-0 lead. He added some insurance in the eighth with an RBI double to make it 7-1. The shortstop is now sporting a .276/.326/.420 slash line with eight home runs, 32 RBI, and 19 stolen bases.
Jul 22 - 10:19 PM

Manny Machado was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with lower back tightness.

It's probably safe to call him day-to-day, but the Orioles don't want to take any chances with their stud young third baseman. Machado was replaced at third base by Ryan Flaherty.
