Rams signed Jeff Fisher to a two-year extension through 2018.

God help us. Fisher has not had a winning season since taking over as head coach in 2012 and, last we checked, still thinks Danny Woodhead plays for the Patriots. Why the Rams would extend their incompetent, cartoon character of a head coach instead of casting him aside is beyond our comprehension. Fisher is on the cusp of becoming the losingest coach in NFL history. Guess this means we won't be seeing Eric Dickerson at the L.A. Coliseum for the next couple of years.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Jaguars are interested in reuniting with Tom Coughlin.

Coughlin started his head coaching career in Jacksonville, leading the expansion Jaguars to four playoff berths in their first five seasons of existence. It is not clear what job the Jaguars would offer Coughlin, but it has seemed like the 70-year-old wants to continue coaching. If that is the case, it is unlikely he is willing to take on a job without a reliable starting quarterback no matter how good the roster is around him, although it might be his best opportunity to get back on the sidelines. That said, Coughlin's name is sure to come up a lot as the coaching carousel revs up to full speed.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer is expected to return next week.

Zimmer had a follow-up surgery Friday, but it shouldn't keep him out another game. Barring any setbacks, he'll resume coaching next week. Zimmer will look to get Minnesota back on track after losing in six of the last seven weeks. The Vikings have a must-win game with Jacksonville in Week 14.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Lions are going to test Marvin Jones (thigh, questionable) in pregame warmups before deciding on his status for Sunday's game against the Saints.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport previously called Jones a "long-shot to play" but the Lions are leaving the door open just a crack. Per Schefter, Jones "looked better" at Friday's practice, which has given Detroit reason for optimism. The Lions play at 1 PM ET on Sunday, so we'll know his status in a couple of hours. His absence would be a boost to Golden Tate, Eric Ebron and even Anquan Boldin.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports Jaguars coach Gus Bradley's firing is a "fait accompli."

One of the downsides of coaching an offseason darling is the backlash when that team disappoints, and it has looked for some time like that backlash would cost Bradley his job. The coach has certainly earned his pink slip, however. Bradley is just 14-45 in four seasons with the Jaguars, and he is certain to add several more losses to that record before the end of the season. More importantly from an organizational standpoint, Blake Borltes has regressed dramatically in his third year, and 2015 first-rounder Dante Fowler has barely been noticeable in his first healthy season. La Canfora reports the Jaguars will take a long look at reuniting with Tom Coughlin, 70, once Bradley is relieved of his duties after the season.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport believes the Saints could explore trading Brandin Cooks this offseason.

Cooks has been vocal about his shrinking role in the Saints' offense, which has led some to question his long-term future in New Orleans. As Rapsheet puts it, "there are only so many balls to go around." With Willie Snead still playing a major role and rookie Michael Thomas emerging as one of Drew Brees' favorite weapons, it makes sense for the Saints to see what they can get for Cooks this offseason. The Saints did something similar when they traded Jimmy Graham to Seattle in 2015. Cooks is on pace for 30 fewer targets than last season.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports Browns owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam spoke at an organization-wide meeting about the importance of staying the course despite the specter of an 0-16 season.

Jimmy Haslam reportedly blamed past regimes and his own quick trigger for the team's current predicament before stressing the need for continuity. The comments suggest the jobs of both coach Hue Jackson and EVP Sashi Brown are safe even if the Browns go winless, but Haslam has been impetuous in the past. Still, firing Jackson for not winning after completely gutting the team in the offseason would be a nonsensical move. Both he and Sashi should get some time to turn the organization around.

Tavon Austin (chest) is out for Week 13 against the Patriots.

His absence was widely expected after sitting out all three practices this week. Austin has been a disappointment this year, averaging less than 40 yards per game with only three touchdowns. Pharoh Cooper could see more work in the slot on Sunday but obviously isn't a fantasy option.
