Indians prospect SS Francisco Lindor went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and run scored on Tuesday in his debut with Triple-A Columbus.
He also struck out twice in the game. Lindor, 20, was promoted to Triple-A after batting .278/.352/.389 with 51 runs scored, 22 extra-base hits, 25 stolen bases and a 61-40 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 88 games at Double-A Akron. The slick-fielding shortstop should receive his first taste of the major leagues later this season before taking over for free-agent-to-be Asdrubal Cabrera at the position in 2015.
Mets prospect 2B Dilson Herrera went 3-for-4 with a home run and triple on Tuesday for Double-A Binghamton.
The three-hit performance extended Herrera's hitting streak to 10 games, during which he's batted a robust .447/.477/.842 with nine extra-base hits and 11 RBI. In general, the 20-year-old has been on fire since reaching Double-A late last month, with an impressive .359/.421/.581 batting line, 16 extra-base hits (four home runs), 26 RBI and five stolen bases in just 29 games. On the season, Herrera is batting .323/.375/.460 with seven home runs, four triples, 26 doubles, 49 RBI and 19 steals through 96 games between the High-A and Double-A levels.
Blue Jays sent RHP Sergio Santos outright to Triple-A Buffalo.
The Jays had designated the disappointing reliever for assignment earlier in the week. He could get another chance later this season if he irons out his issues at Buffalo.
Cubs prospect OF Eloy Jimenez went 3-for-5 with a home run, double and two RBI on Tuesday for the Rookie-level Cubs in the Arizona League.
Jimenez, 17, is making his stateside debut this season after signing with the Cubs last summer out of the Dominican Republic for $2.8 million. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound outfielder has now hit safely in six of the past seven games, with a .333 batting average and three extra-base hits during that span. Overall, Jimenez has batted .286/.333/.500 with two home runs, four doubles and eight RBI through his first 15 games in the Arizona League.
Phillies recalled RHP Phillippe Aumont from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Aumont has allowed four runs over 1 2/3 relief innings with the big club this season. The former top prospect still throws hard but control issues have kept him from reaching his potential.
Phillies designated RHP Jeff Manship for assignment.
Manship posted a 6.65 ERA over 20 relief appearances for the Phils. He shouldn't have trouble passing through waivers.
Phillies optioned C Cameron Rupp to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Rupp is no longer needed with Carlos Ruiz back from the DL. He had 11 hits in 58 at-bats while up with the big club.
Phillies activated C Carlos Ruiz from the 7-day concussion disabled list.
Ruiz wasn't supposed to be back until Friday, but the Phils decided to make the move a couple days early. The veteran backstop was been out since late June with post-concussion symptoms, but he got through five rehab games with no issues and is ready to go.
