Eduardo Escobar was removed from Thursday's game against the Red Sox due to an apparent injury.

Escobar got hit in the right elbow by a high-and-tight pitch from Rick Porcello in the bottom of the first inning. He remained in the game until the top of the fourth, when Taylor Motter entered to play third base. It wouldn't seem to be anything too serious.

White Sox OF prospect Eloy Jimenez has been promoted from Double-A Birmingham to Triple-A Charlotte.

Jimenez tore up the Southern League to the tune of a .317/.368/.556 batting line with 10 home runs, 15 doubles, and 42 RBI in 53 games. The 21-year-old outfielder is one of the top prospects in all of baseball and could very well make his major league debut later this season -- maybe after the rebuilding White Sox sell off some parts ahead of the July 31 trade deadline.

Padres activated OF Wil Myers from the 10-day disabled list.

Myers will return to the Padres' starting lineup on Thursday night against Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner after missing nearly two months with a strained oblique. The 27-year-old also sat out for much of April with an arm issue. He batted .300 with a .900 OPS on his five-game minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso and is safe for immediate activation in fantasy leagues.

Padres optioned OF Franmil Reyes to Triple-A El Paso.

The move clears a 25-man roster spot for Wil Myers, who has been activated off the disabled list ahead of Thursday night's series opener against the Giants. Reyes showed off his big-time raw power in his five-week stay at the major league level, slugging six home runs in 29 games, but he batted just .228 with a .260 on-base percentage.

Yoenis Cespedes (hip, quad) is hoping to progress to running drills in the next few days.

That's what Mets manager Mickey Callaway relayed to reporters on Thursday afternoon. Cespedes landed on the disabled list in mid-May with a right hip injury and then experienced tightness in his right quad earlier this month after embarking on a minor league rehab assignment. He could be ready to return in early-to-mid July if he's able to avoid further setbacks.

Asdrubal Cabrera is out of the Mets' starting lineup on Thursday against the Rockies.

Cabrera banged his elbow on Wednesday night, but manager Mickey Callaway said this is a scheduled day of rest. Cabrera should be back in action for Friday night's series opener against the Dodgers. Jose Reyes is playing second base and batting seventh for the Mets on Thursday versus Colorado left-hander Kyle Freeland.

Rockies recalled RHP Yency Almonte from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Almonte holds a wretched 6.27 ERA in 33 innings this season at the Triple-A level, but the Rockies are in desperate need of fresh bullpen arms. He'll work in long relief.
Jun 21 - 12:55 PM

Rockies optioned INF Ryan McMahon to Triple-A Albuquerque.

There was growing fantasy hype for McMahon this spring, but he has batted just .211/.283/.337 in 106 plate appearances at the major league level this year. Yency Almonte will be called up in a corresponding move.
