Rockies recalled RHP Tyler Chatwood from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Chatwood will make a spot start on Saturday night against the Giants. He has posted decent numbers this year at the Triple-A level but is not a great fantasy bet.

Rockies optioned RHP Rob Scahill to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Scahill was only up for two days this time around. He will probably be back and forth all season long.

Ian Kinsler (ribs) is out of the Rangers' starting lineup again on Saturday evening.

Kinsler was hit in the ribs by a throw Tuesday while stealing second base and aggravated his contusion Thursday during an at-bat. He is considered day-to-day.

Ike Davis - 1B - Mets

Ike Davis was told Saturday by Mets general manger Sandy Alderson that a demotion is not imminent.

ESPN New York reported Saturday morning that there were intensifying internal discussions about sending the struggling first baseman to Triple-A, but Davis got the vote of confidence on Saturday afternoon directly from the man who would make that decision. Davis estimated that he has about a month to turn it around.

Mark Reynolds went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, an RBI single and a walk-off fielder's choice in Saturday's win over the Mariners.

Reynolds drove in three runs on the day. The fielder's choice came with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, as catcher Jesus Montero was unable to keep his foot on home plate on a throw from shortstop Brendan Ryan. Reynolds has been one of the AL's most productive hitters thus far, batting .268/.354/.580 through 40 games. He's tied with the Yankees' Robinson Cano for the American League lead with 12 homers.
May 18 - 4:33 PM

Chris Perez blew his second save of the season Saturday against the Mariners.

Perez entered the top of the ninth with a 4-2 lead, but he coughed it up after giving up back-to-back solo homers to Raul Ibanez and Justin Smoak with two outs. The Indians eventually won the game on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the ninth, so Perez actually ended up with the victory. See, it wasn't all bad for Perez owners. The 27-year-old right-hander recently dealt with some shoulder soreness and has shown diminished velocity on his fastball this season, but he owns a 1.80 ERA and 16/5 K/BB ratio over 15 innings. Vinnie Pestano just returned from an elbow injury, so there's no immediate threat to his job.
May 18 - 4:30 PM

John Lannan (quad) threw a bullpen session on Saturday afternoon in Clearwater, Florida.

Lannan will throw off a mound again on Monday and should then progress to simulated games. If all goes well, he will join the Phillies at some point in early June. He's been on the disabled list since April 18 with a quad strain.
May 18 - 4:29 PM

Zach McAllister turned in another strong outing Saturday, allowing two runs over 7 1/3 innings in a no-decision.

McAllister held the Mariners off the board until Brendan Ryan took him deep in the top of the eighth. The 25-year-old right-hander only notched one strikeout, but was very efficient, allowing six hits and walking just one batter. Unfortunately, Chris Perez cost him a chance at the victory. McAllister has allowed two runs or fewer in four straight starts and now has a 2.65 ERA on the year. It might be time to take him seriously in mixed leagues.
