Jeff Blair of Sportsnet.ca writes that the Blue Jays could call up Josh Thole this weekend.

Russell Martin is getting banged up while attempting to catch R.A. Dickey, but of course Thole has extensive experience catching the knuckleballer. Every game is critical for the Blue Jays right now, so they could bring him back for their upcoming series against the Yankees.

James Wagner of the Toledo Blade writes that Matt Boyd's locker was empty after Tuesday's game with Triple-A Toledo.

This would seem to indicate that Boyd could be on his way to the majors. Acquired from the Blue Jays last week in the David Price deal, the southpaw threw two innings and 40 pitches in his organizational debut on Saturday, which some have speculated was a sign that he would be called up to start on short rest. Jason Beck of MLB.com writes that it's unlikely he'll pitch Tuesday, but that Wednesday is a strong possibility. Stay tuned.

The Mariners will recall right-hander Mayckol Guaipe from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

Guaipe has allowed four runs in 4 1/3 innings over two stints with the Mariners this season. He'll pitch in middle relief.
Aug 4 - 8:41 AM

Mike Fiers will start Sunday against the Athletics.

Fiers made his Astros debut in relief Monday against the Rangers and was knocked around for six runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings. The Astros are calling up Dan Straily to pitch Tuesday.

Coco Crisp (neck) went 2-for-4 with a run scored Monday against the Orioles in his return from the disabled list.

Crisp ended up missing more than two more months with a neck injury. He's no sure thing to stay healthy given his history, but the A's are planning on using him as their primary left fielder and No. 2 hitter.

Huston Street pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his 26th save, putting the finishing touches on Monday's 5-4 victory over the Indians.

Street allowed a one-out single to Michael Bourn, who then second base with two outs, but he was able to get Jose Ramirez to fly out to end the game. Back in the ninth inning after healing up from a groin injury, Street is 26-for-29 in save situations with a 2.72 ERA and a 39/12 K/BB ratio in 39 2/3 innings.

Corey Kluber yielded five runs in 5 2/3 innings, taking his 12th loss of the season on Monday versus the Angels.

Kluber served up 10 hits, including a two-run home run to Conor Gillaspie. He also walked none while striking out four. The right-hander, last year's AL Cy Young Award winner, has been inconsistent this year, sitting on a 3.60 ERA with a 1.12 WHIP and a 176/32 K/BB ratio over 162 2/3 innings. Kluber squares off at home against the Twins next.

Yan Gomes finished 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's loss to the Angels.

Gomes clubbed a two-run home run in the first inning to extend the Indians' lead to 3-0. The backstop has swung a better bat since the beginning of July, but still has a measly .227/.254/.369 batting line on the year along with six home runs and 20 RBI.
