Jeremy Hill averaged 5.6 yards per carry and a touchdown per game in the seven contests where he handled 15-plus carries as a rookie.

Whereas Hill dominated in the feature back role, Gio Bernard was less effective on expanded rushing usage, managing a 4.12 YPC average and 0.7 TDs in his seven games with 14-plus carries. As beat writer Paul Dehner notes, Gio "excelled once shifted into a more situational, receiving role late in the season." Expect Hill to remain the Bengals' clear-lead running back in 2015.

Kiko Alonso (ACL surgery) says he'll "definitely" be 100 percent for the start of training camp.

Alonso enjoyed a dominant rookie season in 2013 (159 tackles, four interceptions), but had his sophomore campaign stripped away because of a knee injury. Seven months after surgery, Alonso has progressed to rehabbing four to five times a week. Buffalo's front seven should be downright frightening with Alonso returning to the fold for 2015 as long as it can also re-sign pass rusher Jerry Hughes.

The Sun-Sentinel reports Mike Wallace has informed the Dolphins he isn't willing to restructure the final three years of his contract.

Wallace has three years and $32.9 million left on his contract, and the Dolphins would like him to take a pay cut if he's going to stick around in Miami. Wallace holds all the cards here. He's easily the team's biggest playmaker and is coming off a 10-touchdown season even with Ryan Tannehill's complete incapability of throwing any semblance of a deep ball. Wallace probably prefers to escape the dumpster fire that is the Dolphins. As our own Patrick Daugherty put it: "The same team that couldn't work with Brandon Marshall and Vontae Davis is now preparing to dump Wallace. Novel idea: Maybe just figure things out?" Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson are barely replacement-level receivers.

ESPN Redskins reporter John Keim thinks NT Barry Cofield may have to take a pay cut.

After the signing of DL Ricky Jean-Francois, the Redskins have a lot of veterans up front, which also includes Jason Hatcher, Chris Baker, Kedric Golston, and Stephen Bowen. Bowen and Golston should be easy releases for Washington, and Cofield may join them. Cofield carries a $7.678 million cap number. The Redskins could save over $4 million by cutting the soon-to-be 31-year-old.

According to Tim Twentyman of the Lions' website, the team would "prefer a couple options" at running back instead of using one back to carry the load.

Theo Riddick is a passing-down back only, while Joique Bell is going on age 29 and coming off multiple surgeries. Twentyman believes the Lions will use a draft pick at tailback and prioritize adding speed. Riddick's forty time is 4.66. Bell's is 4.68, and current third-stringer George Winn runs 4.65. Indiana's Tevin Coleman would be a blur on the fast track at Ford Field.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports "at least" two teams are trying to sign free agent Josh McCown.

We know the Browns and Bills form the "at least," with Buffalo seemingly the most aggressive. McCown has also met with the Bears and Jets. It's possible there's a mystery team in the fold. The Associated Press reported earlier Thursday that the Bills were engaged in ongoing talks with McCown's rep. He should have a new home shortly.

Lancaster, Tex. police say they have no video of the July 2011 incident involving Dez Bryant in a Walmart parking lot.

Police had already said they were summoned but made no arrests. Now we know they don't have the supposed smoking-gun video that's been the subject of innuendo and Twitter hysteria over the past 48 hours. The episode should begin fading from memory.

Free agent RB Steven Jackson has no plans to retire.

"Make no mistake: I can still punish a defense," Jackson said in a statement. "There are 1,000-yard seasons left in these legs." While speaking well of the Falcons, S-Jax intimated his 2013-14 struggles were due in part to the fact that he wasn't given enough opportunities to wear defenses down with big workloads. Jackson was actually one of the league's best backs after first contact in 2014, but his game has noticeably lacked juice for some time now. As a free agent, Jackson will try to match the $1.2 million guaranteed Maurice Jones-Drew got last spring.
