Kris Bryant will make his first career start in left field Tuesday.

Bryant made one start in center field earlier this season and has played three innings in left field, but this will be his first career start there. It's likely just a temporary thing, as Jorge Soler is out of Tuesday's lineup with a sore ankle. Junior Lake is filling in for Soler in right field. Meanwhile, Jonathan Herrera will play third.

Josh Hamilton is out of the Rangers' starting lineup Tuesday due to tightness in his lower half.

It sounds like the kind of routine soreness that comes with an extended absence from live baseball games. Hamilton has registered a 1.021 OPS in 22 at-bats since rejoining the Rangers. Consider him day-to-day.

Jorge Soler is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Marlins with a sore ankle.

No word yet on whether it's a day-to-day situation or something bigger. Junior Lake will start in right field Tuesday. Meanwhile, Kris Bryant will play left field and Jonathan Herrera will start at third.

Jason Heyward is not in the Cardinals' starting lineup Tuesday night against the Brewers.

Randal Grichuk will start in right field and bat fifth against Milwaukee right-hander Tyler Cravy. Heyward is batting just .251/.302/.394 in 48 games this season.

Blue Jays recalled RHP Scott Copeland from Triple-A Buffalo.

He'll serve as the 26th man for Toronto in their doubleheader Tuesday. Copeland has tossed three scoreless innings in a couple of stints with the big club this season.

Blue Jays activated C/DH Dioner Navarro from the 15-day disabled list.

Navarro ended up missing around five weeks with a strained left hamstring. He'll serve as a backup to Russell Martin and figures to get a bunch of starts out of the DH spot now that Jose Bautista is healthy enough to play in the outfield again.
Jun 2 - 3:58 PM

Blue Jays optioned C Josh Thole to Triple-A Buffalo.

The move clears the way for Dioner Navarro's return. Thole is hitting .269 (7-for-26) with two doubles and two RBI over nine games this season, mostly as a caddy for knuckleballer R.A. Dickey. He figures to be back before long.

Denard Span (knee) will run on an anti-gravity treadmill before the Nationals decide whether he can play in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays.

Span left Sunday's game with renewed discomfort in his right knee and was on the bench for game one of the doubleheader. He's dealing with some swelling, so the Nationals might not push it.
