Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-2 with an RBI and two steals as the Marlins topped the Cardinals 3-2 on Tuesday.

Ichiro is hitting .293 in 41 at-bats this spring. He's in line for pretty much every start that doesn't go to one of the Marlins' regular outfielders this season. That said, Christian Yelich, Marcell Ozuna and Giancarlo Stanton really don't figure to get many days off while healthy.

Pete Kozma went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored Tuesday against the Marlins.

At this point, it's no longer a question of whether Kozma will hit .400 this year. No, we're just waiting to see if he bats .500. He's at .435 in 46 at-bats this spring, but he's just warming up.

Joe Blanton will report to Triple-A Omaha.

Blanton was considering using the April 1 opt-out in his minor league contract, but the Royals convinced him to stay in the organization. The veteran right-hander has another opt-out date on May 15.

Blake Swihart went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI as the Red Sox scored nine runs in the top of the ninth to beat a Rays split-squad 11-8 on Tuesday.

Sure, it was against a few pitchers who figure to play no role for the Rays this year, but it's not every day a team scores nine in the ninth to win. Swihart's triple was Boston's only extra-base hit of the game. He's hit .333 with a homer in 30 at-bats this spring. The Red Sox are making the right move in sending him down -- he had just a .659 OPS after moving up to Triple-A last year -- but it wouldn't be much of surprise to see him starting for the club come June or July.
Mar 31 - 5:22 PM

Rusney Castillo had three hits in six at-bats against the Rays on Tuesday.

It's undeniable that Castillo has been more impressive than Shane Victorino this spring. The Red Sox also have no real financial incentive to send Castillo down to Triple-A. Still, it's practically certain that they'll go that route unless Victorino or Allen Craig is traded before the week is out.

Roberto Osuna has made the Blue Jays' Opening Day bullpen.

Osuna will become the youngest pitcher in Jays history when he debuts. The 20-year-old right-hander has allowed just one run and struck out nine batters in 10 innings this spring in the Grapefruit League. He will pitch in middle relief at first but could eventually move into more of a setup role.

Rays prospect Daniel Robertson hit three-run and two-run homers Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Quite a game for a kid who only started because Alexi Casilla, originally expected to play shortstop, was released just before the game. The 21-year-old Robertson was the top prospect the Rays picked up from the A's in the Ben Zobrist deal. He'll spend this year in Double-A, and he could challenge for a starting job in 2016.

Major League Baseball has suspended Jose Mijares for 50 games for a drug of abuse.

Mijares was released by the Reds on March 23 and now may struggle to find another opportunity with an MLB-affiliated club. The 30-year-old left-hander had a 5.06 ERA in 5 1/3 innings this spring in the Cactus League.
