Yankees optioned RHP Nick Goody to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Goody posted a 6.75 ERA in his two outings with the big club. New York called up Nick Rumbelow in the corresponding roster move.
Joe Kelly picked up his third victory of the season on Saturday despite allowing five runs on nine hits over five-plus innings against the Rays.
Kelly did manage to rack up six strikeouts on the afternoon while walking only one. Given the struggles in the Red Sox rotation this season, the right-hander continues to get additional chances at securing a spot, but once again has floundered. He'll head into Friday's start against the Tigers in Detroit looking to improve upon an underwhelming 6.11 ERA and 1.54 WHIP.
Logan Forsythe blasted his 12th home run of the season in a losing effort against the Red Sox on Saturday.
He delivered a two-run single early in the ballgame, then a solo shot off Jean Machi in the ninth inning after the game had already been decided. With his 2-for-5 effort, Forsythe is now hitting .282/.367/.442 with 12 long balls and 45 RBI in what's shaping up to be a breakout season.
Rangers placed C Robinson Chirinos on 15-day disabled list with a strained left shoulder.
It clears a roster spot for Sam Dyson. Before the injury, Chirinos was on pace for 14 homers and 52 RBI. Both would have been career highs. Chris Gimenez will fill in at catcher during his absence.
Matt Moore was knocked around in Saturday's loss to the Red Sox, allowing six runs on nine hits in just three innings of work.
Moore walked one and struck out two on the afternoon. As can be expected for a young hurler returning from Tommy John surgery, Moore has been very inconsistent through his first six starts. He owns a troublesome 8.78 ERA, 2.06 WHIP and 17/13 K/BB ratio through 26 2/3 innings. He'll strive for better results when he takes on the Mets at home on Friday.
Rangers optioned RHP Keone Kela to Double-A Frisco.
Texas need to clear a roster spot for Cole Hamels. Kela has struggled recently, allowing four runs (three earned) over his last three outings. He leads the American League with 49 relief appearances this season.
Jake Lamb is not in the Diamonbacks' starting lineup Saturday against the Astros.
It's a routine day off for Lamb. Aaron Hill will grab the start at third base. Lamb has hit .248 since coming off the disabled list in early June.
Steven Souza left Saturday's game against the Red Sox with a bruised left hand.
Souza couldn't get out of the way of a pitch from Joe Kelly in the fifth inning. Brandon Guyer pinch-hit for him in his next at-bat. He went 1-for-2 with a single before exiting. Souza is likely headed for X-rays.
