T.J. House has been named the Indians' No. 5 starter.

Zach McAllister has captured the fourth spot in news that doesn't surprise anyone following Danny Salazar's demotion. House holds a 5.60 ERA this spring but also a 15/3 K/BB ratio across 17 2/3 innings. The southpaw posted a 3.35 ERA and 80/22 K/BB ratio over 102 frames for the Tribe last season and makes for a great late-round starter flier in fantasy leagues.

Brandon Morrow (blister) is scheduled to pitch on Tuesday.

It will either be a Cactus or minor league game, with Odrisamer Despaigne getting the ball in the other contest. Morrow had to be scratched from his last outing due to a blister, but he's evidently experienced improvement. The former Blue Jay is looking like the favorite to open the season as the Padres' fifth starter.

X-rays on Steve Tolleson's right hand came back negative.

Tolleson was hit by a pitch during Saturday's game. The 31-year-old has a shot to crack the Opening Day roster as a utility player with Maicer Izturis (groin) slated to open the year on the disabled list.

Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Rangers "appear to be leaning" toward keeping Rule 5 pick Delino DeShields Jr. on the roster.

DeShields is batting an underwhelming .235/.278/.382 this spring, but the Rangers like the speed he brings as an extra outfielder. The 22-year-old hasn't played above Double-A and is unlikely to see much playing time with the Rangers, but he has enough upside to justify a roster spot.
Mar 29 - 12:31 PM

Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the "most likely" scenario is Ryan Rua starting in left field for the Rangers.

The Rangers uncluttered their left field situation some with Nate Schierholtz's release and Ryan Ludwick's likely impending release. Jake Smolinski would serve as the fourth outfielder and Rule 5 pick Delino DeShields Jr. the fifth outfielder behind Rua, Leonys Martin and Shin-Soo Choo. Rua has earned the job by batting .306/.358/.531 with a homer and eight RBI this spring. The 25-year-old also fared pretty well in spot duty with the Rangers in 2014 and has posted some big numbers in the minors, making him a deep league fantasy option.

Athletics optioned RHP Chris Bassitt to Triple-A Nashville.

Bassitt had a shot to win the final spot in the A's rotation but really struggled this spring, posting an 8.78 ERA across 13 1/3 innings. He still has a chance to spend a good amount of time in the majors this season.

Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports that "signs point" to the Mariners using "what amounts to a modified six-man rotation" this season.

The main reasoning behind the idea would be to hold Taijuan Walker's and James Paxton's innings down, although it would serve to keep all of the Mariners' first five starters more fresh down the stretch. Roenis Elias would be in line to serve as Seattle's "sixth" starter after losing out on the fifth spot to Walker (the Mariners have yet to officially name Walker the No. 5 guy), although Jordan Pries and Danny Hultzen could get a look at some point, as well.

Giants re-assigned RHP Curtis Partch to minor league camp.

He had a Cactus League ERA of 9.00 this spring. Partch will give the Giants some bullpen depth at Triple-A.
