Rafael Montero (shoulder) is expected to throw off a mound soon.

He's been throwing on flat ground for a while now and is almost ready to climb atop the bump. Montero has been on the shelf since late April with right rotator cuff inflammation.

Giants optioned 1B/OF Ryan Lollis to Triple-A Sacramento.

Lollis was hitless in just five at-bats in his brief stint with the big club. He's clearing room for the return of Hunter Pence from the disabled list.
Jul 7 - 8:53 PM

David Buchanan is expected to be recalled to start on Saturday in San Francisco.

Buchanan pitched for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday but was pulled after 40 pitches so that he'd be available for Saturday. The righty just returned to action two weeks ago after missing over a month with an ankle injury. He posted an 8.76 ERA and 1.91 WHIP in five starts earlier this season with the Phillies.

Rob Scahill (forearm) hopes to resume playing catch this weekend.

Scahill landed on the disabled list late last month with right forearm tightness. It's sounding like he could be ready to return before the end of the month.
Jul 7 - 8:39 PM

Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Tuesday that Gerardo Parra will remain the club's starter in left field following Khris Davis' return from the disabled list.

It's no surprise, as Parra has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball with a .403/.438/.653 batting line over his last 18 games. Davis started in left on Tuesday but will likely be limited to the occasional start versus southpaws going forward. Of course, it could all be a moot point later this month, as Parra is likely to be traded to a contender.
Jul 7 - 8:26 PM

Tim Hudson (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Tuesday.

It's his first time throwing from a mound since he was placed on the disabled list last week with a shoulder strain. When Hudson will be ready to return isn't known, and he might not have a rotation spot waiting for him when it happens.
Jul 7 - 7:58 PM

Nori Aoki (leg) is expected to be ready for activation from the disabled list within two weeks after the All-Star break.

Aoki suffered a small fracture of his right fibula late last month. He hasn't resumed baseball activities yet, but it should be a quick turnaround once he does.
Jul 7 - 7:55 PM

Jeff Baker exited Tuesday's game versus the Red Sox with a left oblique injury.

The Marlins are calling him day-to-day for now, but it's an ailment that usually leads to a disabled list stint. It's worth noting, though, that Baker strained his other oblique earlier this season and didn't go on the DL.
