Zach Greinke continued his run of dominance in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Mets, throwing seven innings of shutout ball while allowing just four hits.

With the win, Greinke improved to 7-2 on the year. He struck out four without walking a batter and now carries a 1.48 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 97/20 K/BB ratio across 115 1/3 innings. There's not much we can say that the numbers don't say themselves. Up next for Greinke's slicing and dicing pleasure, the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Cubs are expected to activate OF Jorge Soler (ankle) from the 15-day disabled list on Sunday.

Soler went 2-for-13 with four strikeouts during his four-game rehab stint with Triple-A Iowa. He'll immediately take over for Chris Denorfia in right field. The 23-year-old went on the DL last month with a sprained left ankle.
Jul 4 - 10:43 PM

Matt Harvey handed out five free passes while allowing three runs over five innings in Saturday's loss to the Dodgers.

Entering the game, Harvey had only walked 17 over 99 1/3 innings, but he showed no such control against the Dodgers. Even with his location struggles, though, he only allowed three runs. Two came home in the fifth inning, when Harvey coughed up a solo home run to Adrian Gonzalez and surrendered an RBI single to Alberto Callaspo. He'll carry a 3.11 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 100/23 K/BB ratio over 104 1/3 innings into his next start, a Saturday afternoon home date with the Diamondbacks.

The Marlins will activate Michael Morse (back/finger) from the disabled list on Sunday.

Miami will send struggling right-hander Jarred Cosart to Triple-A New Orleans in the corresponding roster move. Morse hit .270 with one homer and four RBI during his 11-game rehab assignment. He'll share time at first base with hot-hitting Justin Bour.
Jul 4 - 10:36 PM

Darin Ruf went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Saturday's loss to the Braves.

Ruf took an Alex Wood offering out of the park in the fifth inning to pull the Phillies to within 9-4. Suffice it to say, the Phillies lost the game. Ruf was called up on June 24 to take Chase Utley's (ankle) spot on the active roster. Across 118 major league at-bats this season, he's hitting .229/.268/.390 with four homers and 14 RBI.
Jul 4 - 10:35 PM

Cameron Maybin played a nice all-around game in Saturday's win over the Phillies, homering, scoring three runs and driving in two.

Maybin doubled in the first inning, homered in the second and singled in the fourth. He couldn't find himself a triple for the cycle, finishing 3-for-5. The big game pushed his season slash to .295/.364/.418 to side with seven home runs, 39 RBI, 34 runs scored and 14 steals in what's shaping up to be the best overall season of his career.
Jul 4 - 10:28 PM

Marlins optioned RHP Jarred Cosart to Triple-A New Orleans.

Cosart got lit up for seven runs in just 1 2/3 innings Saturday against the Cubs. He's 0-3 with a 9.00 ERA over his last five outings and may need a change of scenery. Michael Morse will take Cosart's roster spot Sunday when he comes off the disabled list.
Jul 4 - 10:27 PM

Alex Wood danced around trouble to allow four runs on 10 hits over six innings in Saturday's win over the Phillies.

Wood struck out four and walked two in the contest. While he didn't pitch great, opposing starter Kevin Correia was worse and Wood was the beneficiary of nine runs scored by the Brave offense. The 24-year-old southpaw is the owner of a 3.34 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. He'll face off with the Rockies in Denver next time he takes the ball.
