An MRI taken Tuesday on Jon Moscot's right shoulder revealed no structural damage.
He was given a cortisone injection and will be unavailable for the next few days, but this doesn't sound like any sort of long-term issue. Moscot had to be scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday against the Giants after complaining of mild shoulder discomfort. John Lamb is going to fill in.
Pablo Sandoval underwent season-ending surgery Tuesday to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
Just as many national media members had been reporting. Sandoval appeared in only three games this season for the Red Sox after showing up to camp out of shape and losing his starting third base job to Travis Shaw. He is still owed $58 million guaranteed.
Cubs LHP prospect Carson Sands racked up four strikeouts over six shutout frames Monday in a win for Low-A South Bend.
Sands held Wisconsin to four hits and three walks in his longest outing of the season. The 21-year-old has been far from dominant this year, registering a mediocre 4.43 ERA in four starts. He's also walked 10 hitters in 20 1/3 innings with only 11 strikeouts. On the bright side, Sands remains undefeated while six of the 10 runs he's allowed this year came in one start. Sands is a work in progress but he's going to get better.
Carlos Gomez (ribs) is back in the Astros' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Twins.
Gomez missed three straight games because of some mild soreness in his right rib cage. The dynamic 30-year-old will start in center field and bat seventh in his return to action Tuesday versus Twins righty Alex Meyer.
Matt Harvey has been battling an illness but will make his scheduled start Tuesday versus the Braves.
Harvey will get fluids before the game. He's obviously going to be pitching at less than 100 percent in the home start against Atlanta, but it's such a juicy matchup that he remains a must-play in all fantasy formats.
Manny Machado is starting at shortstop on Tuesday.
Machado was originally penciled in at third base, but the O's have decided to let him play short with Ryan Flaherty covering the hot corner. Machado should get regular starts at shortstop while J.J. Hardy recovers from a small fracture in his left foot.
Domingo Santana (shoulder) is back in the Brewers' starting lineup Tuesday versus the angels.
Santana was a late scratch from Monday's series opener due to tightness in his right lat. It clearly wasn't anything too serious. He is starting in right field and batting leadoff Tuesday against Nick Tropeano.
Ryan Braun is out of the Brewers' starting lineup Tuesday due to general soreness.
It sounds like a routine day off, for the most part. Braun went 3-for-3 on Monday night against the Angels and is batting .372/.443/.605 in 24 total games this year.
