Dodgers acquired INF Tim Locastro and RHP Chase DeJong from the Blue Jays for international bonus slots 27, 57 and 117.

Locastro, who turns 23 later this month, owns a .305/.399/.392 batting line with 74 steals over his first 180 games in pro ball. He already had a career-high five homers over 70 games this season with Class A Lansing.

Dodgers acquire RHP Chase DeJong and INF Tim Locastro from the Blue Jays for international bonus slots 27, 57 and 117.

Ben Badler of Baseball America and Keith Law of ESPN reported the details. The Blue Jays signed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for $3.9 million, so while the team has exceeded their international signing pool, this move helps them avoid exceeding it by more than 15 percent and being subject to the maximum penalty. After a disappointing 2014, the 21-year-old DeJong has posted a 3.13 ERA and 77/18 K/BB ratio over 86 1/3 innings this season with Class A Lansing.

Neil Walker continued to swing a hot bat in Thursday's win over the Tigers, finishing 4-for-5 with a double and three RBI.

Walker drove in a run with a single in the sixth inning, then doubled in two more runs in the ninth to help put the game away. He's been hotter than Death Valley of late, with eight hits in his last 11 at-bats and 15 hits in his last 26 at-bats. This torrid stretch has bumped his season triple-slash to .278/.346/.421.

Matt Kemp will bat third Thursday against the Cardinals.

It will be his first start out of the No. 3 spot since June 11. He has hit in the cleanup spot and the leadoff spot since. Kemp is batting just .244/.279/.365 on the year.

Andrew McCutchen went 1-for-3 with two RBI in Thursday afternoon's win over the Tigers.

McCutchen hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning and an RBI double in the ninth. The two runs driven in gave him 47 for the season. After a slow start to the season, the numbers are more or less where you would expect them to be, as the star outfielder is now hitting .295/.386/.482 with nine homers and those 47 RBI. There's still a little room for improvement in the slugging department, but the rest of his body of work looks shiny enough.

Matt Harrison (back) is expected to be activated to start Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

It's been a long road back for Harrison, who had spinal fusion surgery last June. The 29-year-old posted a 6.23 ERA and 21/15 K/BB ratio in 34 2/3 innings over six minor league rehab starts between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock. He's a wait-and-see option in fantasy leagues right now.
Jul 2 - 5:01 PM

Ian Kinsler went 3-for-5 with an RBI double in Thursday's loss to the Pirates.

Kinsler hit a grounds-rule double in the ninth inning to draw the Tigers to within 8-4, but despite subsequent scoring chances, his team fell by that final score. The power just hasn't been there for the former All-Star this season, as Kinsler is slashing .264/.333/.352 with just two home runs and 32 RBI over 302 at-bats. The last season in which Kinsler failed to hit double-digit homers was in 2009.
Jul 2 - 4:54 PM

Francisco Liriano kept the Tigers off the scoreboard in Thursday's 8-4 win, scattering five hits over seven innings of shutout work.

The start might not have been perfect (Liriano walked three against five strikeouts), but the southpaw didn't allow a run and improved his record to 5-6 in the process. He's been remarkably consistent this season and holds a 2.99 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and a 113/31 K/BB ratio over 102 1/3 innings. Up next on the docket for Liriano, a home date with the Padres.
