Josh Beckett allowed one hit over five scoreless innings but took a no-decision in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Beckett struck out seven hitters, walking two while allowing just one single on the afternoon. After a poor start against the Tigers his first time out, Beckett has now allowed three hits, a 1.00 WHIP and 11 strikeouts over 10 shutout innings in his last two starts. Beckett will continue to search for his first win since September 30, 2012, when he faces the Rockies on Friday.

Josh Donaldson went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in the Athletics' 4-1 win over the Astros on Sunday.

Donaldson hit a two-run blast, his fourth home run of the season, in the first inning. He followed with two doubles in his next three at-bats, including an RBI double in the ninth inning. The 28-year-old scuffled to start the year, but he's proving that his breakout 2013 season was no fluke with his recent hitting.
Apr 20 - 8:13 PM

Marwin Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a home run in Sunday's loss to the Athletics.

Gonzalez' solo shot off A's starter Jesse Chavez was the Astros' only run on the day. The infielder, getting a spot start at third base in place of Matt Dominguez, finished with two of the Astros' five hits. The 25-year-old earned a bench spot with a strong spring and is hitting .313 in part-time duty to start the season.
Apr 20 - 8:10 PM

Luke Gregerson earned his third save of the season in Sunday's win over the Astros.

Gregerson threw a scoreless ninth inning, striking out one, for the save. He's got a 1.69 ERA and 0.75 WHIP through 10 2/3 innings and although A's manager Bob Melvin has committed to a closer-by-committee, Gregerson has the kind of stuff to be an effective closer. For now, though, he simply remains a player to watch until the situation in Oakland becomes clearer.
Apr 20 - 8:06 PM

Jed Lowrie went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Astros.

Lowrie scored the first and last runs of the game, giving him 14 on the year. That's good for fifth in the American League. Lowrie also walked in the game, giving him 16 through 18 games. When healthy, Lowrie is proving to be one of the better offensive shortstops in the game.
Apr 20 - 8:02 PM

Brad Peacock allowed two runs over five innings against the A's in his first start of the season on Sunday.

Peacock was much better than Lucas Harrell, who he replaced in the rotation, had been, but he still took his second loss in the outing. In all, he allowed five hits and three walks, keeping the A's off the scoreboard after Josh Donaldson's first inning homer. He'll have his shot at redemption Friday when the teams square off in Houston.
Apr 20 - 7:57 PM

Jesse Chavez allowed one run over six innings against the Astros on Sunday to pick up his first win of the season.

Chavez has been fantastic since the outset, but some bad luck left him winless until Sunday afternoon. The right-hander gave up four hits and three walks, with Marwin Gonzalez' solo homer accounting for the Astros' only run. He also struck out six in the outing. Chavez will try to keep the ball rolling when the two teams meet up again Friday in Houston.
Apr 20 - 7:54 PM

Marcus Semien went 4-for-6 with four RBI as the White Sox crushed the Rangers 16-2 on Sunday.

Semien had four of the Sox' 18 hits and knocked in four of the team's 16 runs as they pounded Robbie Ross and the Rangers bullpen. Semien's big damage came on a bases-loaded triple in the sixth inning, his first triple of the year. Semien is talented but hasn't hit for a high average thus far, and his at-bats could be cut into when Gordon Beckham returns.
