Billy Hamilton (thumb) will sit out Wednesday.

Hamilton was pulled from Tuesday night's game against the Giants after reaggravating his left thumb, which he originally jammed April 15 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. Consider the speedster day-to-day. Tyler Holt is starting in center field and batting second Wednesday versus San Francisco right-hander Jake Peavy.

Zack Cozart (knee) is back in the Reds' starting lineup Wednesday versus the Giants.

Cozart tweaked his surgically-repaired right knee in Sunday's series finale against the Pirates and was held out of the first two games of this three-game set with the Giants. It sounds like that was all mostly precautionary. The 30-year-old shortstop has an impressive .347/.350/.533 batting line in 19 games this season for Cincinnati.

Shane Greene (blister) resumed throwing Tuesday.

"Everything felt really good," Greene said of the blister on his right middle finger. "The issue is just letting it heal. So we'll see how it responds tomorrow and go from there." The right-hander hopes to be activated off the 15-day disabled list when first eligible next Tuesday. Michael Fulmer will take at least one more turn in the Tigers' rotation.
May 4 - 9:26 AM

Jason Heyward (wrist) remains absent from the Cubs' starting lineup Wednesday versus the Pirates.

Heyward has been bothered by right wrist discomfort for a couple of weeks and recently had a bad flareup. He has now missed three straight games. Ben Zobrist is in right field, Tommy La Stella is at second base, Javier Baez is at third base, and Kris Bryant is in left field Wednesday afternoon against Bucs right-hander Juan Nicasio.

Neil Wagner made his first minor league appearance since 2014 on Tuesday with High-A Charlotte.

Wagner underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery in August 2014 and ran into a couple of setbacks in his rehab. But he looked great Tuesday, throwing a perfect inning for the Stone Crabs while touching 95 mph on the radar gun. The 32-year-old right-hander could make his way into the Tampa Bay bullpen at some point this summer.
May 4 - 9:11 AM

Brad Boxberger (abdomen) threw another successful 30-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday.

Boxberger worked in some changeups and sliders in anticipation of the next step of his rehab, which will be facing live hitters. He'll head to the Rays' spring training complex Friday to begin simulated work. The right-hander is probably two weeks away -- maybe a little less -- from joining the back end of the Tampa Bay bullpen. Rays fill-in closer Alex Colome is sitting on a 3.00 ERA and five saves.
May 4 - 9:08 AM

Mike Moustakas (thumb) hit a game-tying, pinch-hit, two-run single on Tuesday versus the Nationals.

Moustakas then scored the game-winning run on a Lorenzo Cain walkoff RBI single a few batters later. The third baseman was held out of Kansas City's starting lineup because of a nagging thumb contusion. He may be given another "bench day" on Wednesday.
May 4 - 8:59 AM

Mike Napoli (neck) had a double, a walk, and two RBI in his return to action Tuesday.

The veteran first baseman had been sidelined for a few days in a row because of some mild stiffness in his neck. It was clearly no big deal. Napoli, 34, is batting .210/.273/.420 with 13 RBI in 21 games this season.
