Chargers waived WR Vincent Brown.
Packers waived S Chris Banjo.
A 2012 undrafted free agent, Banjo appeared in all 16 games for the Packers last season, playing 192 snaps on defense. He'll search for work as a special teamer.
49ers waived LS Kevin McDermott.
McDermott started all 16 games in 2013, but the Niners are going with former Charger and Redskin Kyle Nelson.
Jets waived QB Tajh Boyd.
Boyd was the 213th overall pick in May's draft. He was brutal for much of the summer during practice and completed just 8-of-17 passes for 98 yards and one touchdown in the preseason. Boyd is headed for the practice squad. The Jets will roll with Matt Simms behind Geno Smith and Michael Vick.
Chiefs waived/injured CB Demarcus Van Dyke.
Van Dyke suffered a hamstring injury at some point in training camp. The former Miami (FL) Hurricane was the 81st overall pick in the 2011 draft.
49ers released WR Kassim Osgood and S C.J. Spillman.
Even though Osgood is 34, it'll be a blow to the 49ers' special teams. Spillman looks like a salary dump as the move saves $1.225 million against the cap. Perhaps the 49ers will bring back Osgood after Week 1, so they don't have to guarantee his salary. They did that last year.
Colts released LB Kelvin Sheppard.
Colts GM Ryan Grigson regularly gets ripped for his 2013 trade for Trent Richardson, but dealing Jerry Hughes for Sheppard last April has arguably been his biggest blunder. Sheppard is now on the street, while 26-year-old Hughes is coming off a double-digit sack campaign in Buffalo.
Dolphins waived WR Matt Hazel and G/C David Arkin.
Arkin's fate was sealed when the Dolphins brought in Samson Satele. A sixth-round pick this season, Hazel could be signed to the Dolphins' practice squad.
