Albert Pujols is absent from the Angels' lineup Sunday.

It's a regular day of rest. Yunel Escobar is in the designated hitter spot, Luis Valbuena is at third base and C.J. Cron is at first.
Jul 23 - 1:05 PM

Caleb Smith will start Sunday's game against the Mariners.

It was going to be Luis Cessa, but he's struggled so the Yankees are going to give Smith a shot. Smith gave up a couple runs over three relief innings in his lone appearance in the majors, but he's had an excellent year between Double- and Triple-A with a 2.11 ERA and 91/27 K/BB ratio over 89 2/3 frames. The lefty could potentially get additional starts after Sunday, although it remains likely that the Yankees will trade for rotation help.
Jul 23 - 12:07 PM

Troy Tulowitzki (groin) is expected to return to the Blue Jays' lineup Monday.

Tulo is missing a second straight start Sunday because of a sore groin, but it's not viewed as a major concern. Ryan Goins is getting another start at shortstop Sunday.
Jul 23 - 11:52 AM

Yoenis Cespedes is not in the Mets' lineup Sunday.

It's a routine day off. The Mets also have Asdrubal Cabrera on the bench, as they're going with Michael Conforto, Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce in the outfield, T.J. Rivera at second base and Wilmer Flores at third.

George Springer is not in the Astros' lineup Sunday.

It's a rare day off for Springer. Carlos Beltran is also getting a breather, as Evan Gattis, Nori Aoki and Jake Marisnick are all receiving starts.
Jul 23 - 10:39 AM

Ryon Healy (head) remained out of the Athletics' lineup Sunday.

It's the second straight start he's missed after a bad-hop grounder hit him in the head Friday. Healy did pinch-hit Saturday, though, and he probably would be starting if the A's weren't playing in a National League park without the designated hitter. Expect him to be back in there Monday in Toronto.

Astros recalled INF Tyler White from Triple-A Fresno.

White has batted .299/.371/.517 with 19 homers and 69 RBI at Fresno this season. He's played all over the infield this season and could see the occasional start against lefties.
Jul 23 - 10:28 AM

Astros placed 3B Colin Moran on the 10-day disabled list with a facial fracture.

Moran is also dealing with a concussion after having to be carted off the field Saturday after fouling a ball off his eye. He's expected to need surgery, although that hasn't officially been determined yet. There's no timetable for his return, but it's obviously going to be a while.
