Corey Seager (oblique) will play seven innings in a minor league game Saturday.

Seager got three at-bats in a minor league game Tuesday and played five innings in one Thursday, so he's slowly but surely upping his progression. It's possible he'll continue to be held out of Cactus League action just in case the Dodgers need to backdate a disabled list stint in the event of a setback. However, all signs are pointing to Seager being ready to go on Opening Day.

Diamondbacks re-assigned OF Oswaldo Arcia, RHP Erik Davis, LHP Brian Matusz and C Josh Thole to minor league camp.

There are some notable names among these cuts, but none of them come as a surprise. Arcia has bounced around to multiple organizations after falling out of favor with the Twins.

Christian Friedrich will open the season on the disabled list after being diagnosed with a strained left lat.

Friedrich hadn't pitched in a week due to the ailment. He'll be shut down for 1-2 weeks and it's unclear at this point how long he'll be sidelined. His absence should give a guy like Trevor Cahill a better shot at a rotation spot.

Daniel Mengden will have the walking boot on his right foot removed on Monday.

Mengden had surgery on his fractured right medial tibial sesamoid bone last month. It's unclear when he might be game-ready, but obviously it will be a while.

An MRI on Andrew Susac's injured trapezius came back negative.

Susac will be allowed to ramp up his rehab now, but he's still going to begin the season on the disabled list. The Brewers are set to open the year with Jett Bandy and Manny Pina as their catching combo.

Billy Hamilton (Achilles) will return to game action this weekend.

Hamilton hasn't played since last weekend due to some minor Achilles soreness, although he said he would be playing if it were the regular season. Obviously his legs are the most important part of his game, so we can't take this lightly. However, it sounds like Hamilton should be fine.

Adrian Gonzalez (elbow) is back in the Dodgers' lineup Friday.

Gonzalez has dealt with an elbow issue on and off during camp, but he's feeling well enough to give it a go again. The first baseman has been limited to just 10 Cactus League plate appearances this spring, but he also got 12 at-bats during the World Baseball Classic.
Mar 24 - 12:46 PM

Carlos Rodon was scratched from Friday's start and will undergo an MRI due to tightness in his left biceps.

Uh oh. The White Sox don't seem to think Rodon has any structural damage, but he's probably going to miss the first couple starts of the season, anyway. The left-hander was already being eased into things this spring as he was prepped for an increased workload in 2017, so he's not totally built up yet. Obviously, more will be known once the exam results are revealed.
