Tony Cingrani gave up three runs over five innings Saturday in a loss to the Cubs.

Cingrani needed 104 pitches (55 strikes) to complete his five innings of work. He walked four and struck out three in the loss. He gave up four hits, so he has yet to give up more than five hits in any of his 22 starts in the majors. He'll bring a 3.22 ERA into a start against the Pirates next week in Pittsburgh.

Emilio Bonifacio was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a stolen base Saturday against the Reds.

Bonifacio was in an 0-for-13 slump this week, but he got a hit and a walk on Friday and had another big day today. The 28-year-old is hitting .358 (24-for-67) with eight stolen bases and 11 runs scored through 15 games. We were never counting on the hot start to last, but his speed and mulit-position eligibility should come in handy as long as he's playing regularly and batting leadoff for Chicago.

Darwin Barney clubbed a two-run homer against the Reds on Saturday.

Some rare power from Barney, as it was just his 17th career home run in 483 games. 14 of them have come at Wrigley Field. The 28-year-old wasn't much of a fantasy option even as a regular, so he's essentially irrelevant as a part-timer.
Apr 19 - 5:49 PM

Billy Hamilton went 3-for-5 with a stolen base in Saturday's loss to the Cubs.

All three hits were singles. Hamilton is now batting .273 (12-for-44) since beginning the season 0-for-12. Meanwhile, his on-base percentage is up to .254, which is his high-water mark for the young season. More ups and downs are to be expected for the young speedster.

Cole Hamels (biceps) has been cleared to join the Phillies' rotation Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Hamels threw seven innings of one-run ball Thursday at High-A Clearwater, wrapping up his minor league rehab assignment with a 2.12 ERA and 12/1 K/BB ratio in 17 total frames. The Dodgers present a tough first matchup, but Hamels should be a fantasy ace going forward.
Apr 19 - 5:29 PM

Chase Headley is back in the Padres' starting lineup on Saturday night against the Giants.

Headley has been limited to pinch-hitting duties for much of this week because of a mild right biceps strain. He is batting fifth and playing third base Saturday.
Apr 19 - 5:17 PM

Jenrry Mejia (blister) has been cleared to start Monday in the Mets' series-opener against the Cardinals.

Mejia made it through a bullpen session Saturday without being bothered by the blister on his right middle finger. The 24-year-old is 2-0 with a 2.81 ERA in three starts this year, but St. Louis is a tough fantasy matchup.
Apr 19 - 5:11 PM

David Ortiz went 2-for-4 and hit his third homer as the Red Sox topped the Orioles 4-2 on Saturday.

Ortiz was also robbed of a homer by Adam Eaton on Thursday before getting Friday off, so perhaps he's starting to warm up at the plate. Today's homer gave him 40 in 200 career games against Baltimore. That's actually slightly below his career rate (he has 394 homers in 1,786 games against everyone else).
