Yasiel Puig went 2-for-4 with a home run, leading the Dodgers to a 6-0 victory over the Yankees in the second half of Wednesday's doubleheader in New York.

Puig was 2-for-5 in the early game but the Dodgers lost 6-4. The young Cuban phenom is batting .474/.500/.789 with five home runs, two stolen bases, 11 runs scored and 11 RBI over his first 59 plate appearances in the major leagues. He is already a fantasy monster.

Chris Capuano tossed six shutout innings on Wednesday evening as the Dodgers won the second half of a doubleheader against the Yankees.

It was his first start since suffering a lat strain in late May and he looked excellent, yielding only three total hits. Capuano struck out four and did not give up a walk, throwing 51 of his 84 pitches for strikes. Still, he has a 4.62 ERA and 1.36 WHIP on the season and is not always a reliable streaming option in mixed leagues. The left-hander will get the Giants at home next time out.

Phil Hughes was shelled for five earned runs over six innings as the Yankees dropped the second half of a doubleheader on Wednesday night against the Dodgers.

It was another underwhelming outing for the 26-year-old right-hander. Hughes did not issue a walk and struck out three, but he surrendered a total of 10 hits and got no support from the Yankees offense. He will carry a 3-6 record and 5.09 ERA into his next start at home against a dangerous Rangers team.

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said A.J. Burnett (calf) "has been nowhere near a mound" since being placed on the disabled list.

Burnett hasn't pitched since June 8, and it appears he's not terribly close to being activated. "We're working on flexibility, mobility and strengthening," Hurdle said. "That's not to say that can't change in another 24 hours with A.J. He's really tried to not do some things at all and do a lot of things. As far as his rehab goes, he didn't want to do anything as far as moving around other than strengthening, loosening and working on the flexion part of it."

Mike Zagurski has elected free agency.

Zagurski cleared waivers after being designated for assignment, but he's decided to look for an opportunity elsewhere. He posted a 15.00 ERA in six games for the Pirates.

Jeanmar Gomez (forearm) struck out four over five hitless innings in a rehab start for Triple-A Indianapolis Wednesday.

He walked one batter, needing just 52 pitches to cover the five frames. Gomez allowed one earned run over three frames in his first rehab start. The righty appears to be ready to be activated and seems likely to return to the Pirates' rotation given the team's injuries.

Wilkin Ramirez (concussion) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Fort Myers on Thursday.

Ramirez was cleared after passing a concussion test. He's been out since late May and would figure to need a handful of games before being activated.

Manny Ramirez's agent, Barry Praver, told FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi Wednesday that his client would like to return to Major League Baseball.

Ramirez has been taken off the roster of the EDA Rhinos of the Chinese Professional Baseball League after batting .352/.422/.555 with eight home runs and 43 RBI in 206 plate appearances. There's been speculation that the 41-year-old could go to Japan, but his first choice would surely be to return to the states. Whether anyone would have interest in him remains to be seen.
