Chris Davis remains sidelined for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

The struggling first baseman hasn't suited up for the Orioles in over a week. Manager Buck Showalter said Wednesday that Davis was close to returning, though there's still no indication when he might be back. The 32-year-old's .454 OPS ranks dead-last among qualified hitters. Mark Trumbo will get the nod at first base for Thursday night's series finale.

Mitch Haniger went 0-for-4 on Thursday to finish the series against the Yankees 1-for-13.

Haniger has still been a very valuable player for the Mariners this season, but he hasn't been a very good hitter these last six weeks; he's batting .232/.310/.384 in 151 at-bats since May 10.

Brandon Kintzler (forearm) will throw another bullpen session on Friday.

Kintzler came out of Wednesday's side session with no lingering issues in his forearm and will pitch with more intensity on Friday, introducing his curveball into the mix. The 33-year-old setup man should be able to return to the Nationals' bullpen in early July.

Orioles transferred LHP Richard Bleier from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

Bleier underwent season-ending surgery Tuesday after suffering a Grade 3 tear of his left lat last week during an appearance against the Red Sox. The southpaw finishes the year with a sparkling 1.93 ERA in 32 2/3 innings. He should be ready for the start of spring training next February.

Orioles optioned OF Joey Rickard to Triple-A Norfolk.

Rickard has batted just .203 with a .267 on-base percentage in 29 games this season with Baltimore. Colby Rasmus will take his spot on the 25-man roster.

Orioles activated OF Colby Rasmus from the 60-day disabled list.

Rasmus is starting in right field and batting sixth Thursday night against the Nationals and Max Scherzer after missing over two months with a left hip flexor strain. He might have some appeal in AL-only fantasy leagues, but we wouldn't trust the 31-year-old in a standard mixed format.

Jon Morosi of MLB.com reports that the Phillies have expressed interest in trading for Adrian Beltre.

He'd be a big upgrade defensively (and offensively) over Maikel Franco, who's been thrust back into an everyday role in Philly with J.P. Crawford out 4-6 weeks due to a broken hand. Beltre is batting .302/.357/.428 in 45 games this season for the Rangers and he still plays a great third base at age 39. The future Hall of Famer is in the final year of a two-year, $36 million deal.

Cardinals recalled RHP John Gant from Triple-A Memphis.

Gant will be in the Cardinals' bullpen on Thursday night in Milwaukee, but he could eventually move into Michael Wacha's rotation spot. Wacha was placed on the disabled list Thursday after suffering a left oblique strain on Wednesday. Gant has posted an impressive 1.65 ERA and 42/16 K/BB ratio in 49 innings this season at the Triple-A level. He has a 4.79 career ERA in the majors.
