Tony Cingrani surrendered three earned runs in five innings Saturday as the Reds fell to the Cubs.

Cingrani again struggled with his command, issuing four walks while throwing just 55 of his 104 pitches for strikes. He yielded just four hits, but the Cubs made him pay for his poor control. The left-hander will carry a 1-2 record and 3.22 ERA into his next start at Pittsburgh.

Jay Bruce - OF - Reds

Jay Bruce finished 3-for-3 with a walk and an RBI in the Reds' loss to the Cubs on Saturday.

Bruce drove home Billy Hamilton on a single in the top of the seventh inning and also collected singles in the first and sixth innings. He is now batting .204/.362/.389 with nine RBI in 16 games this season.

Anthony Rizzo was pulled from Saturday's game against the Reds because of back spasms.

"It just started barking on me in the fifth or sixth, and once we took the four-run lead, I [decided to] play with more caution than go up there, get another at-bat and go out on the field and hurt it even more," Rizzo said. He is hoping to start on Sunday.

John Lannan has accepted his assignment to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Lannan had the option to elect free agency, but he has decided to remain in the Mets organization for now. The lefty had a 15.75 ERA in five relief appearances.

Bruce Chen notched his first win of the year despite allowing four runs over five innings Saturday against the Twins.

It's strange to write it, but as well as the Twins have been swinging the bats, allowing four runs in five innings isn't bad. Chen missed his previous turn with a tight left glute muscle, so he was making his third start of the year today. He'll pitch in Cleveland next time out.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Gavin Floyd (elbow) will make at least two more rehab starts.

Floyd has allowed 10 runs -- eight earned -- in 13 2/3 rehab innings so far, and the Braves want him to continue to work out the kinks against a lower level of competition. He is on his way back from Tommy John surgery.

Kevin Correia gave up five runs -- four earned -- in six innings Saturday in a loss to the Royals.

Correia and Mike Pelfrey are fighting it out for the honor of being first bumped from the Minnesota rotation. It'd be nice to see the Twins go to someone with a little more upside, whether it's Samuel Deduno or Triple-A Rochester's Kris Johnson. Prospect Alex Meyer could be a factor, too, though probably not for another six weeks or so. Correia is currently 0-2 with a 5.47 ERA.

Salvador Perez went 0-for-4 on Saturday and is 1-for-12 in three games since moving into the cleanup spot for the Royals.

Perez got off to a scorching start, hitting .458 with a 3/8 K/BB ratio in his first eight games. In eight games since, he's 4-for-34 with a 5/0 K/BB ratio. His fantasy value should go up for as long as he lasts as the Royals' cleanup hitter, but he's in danger of being dropped again if he continues to slump.
