Gregory Polanco (leg) remains out of the starting lineup Saturday versus the Dodgers.
Polanco is dealing with some discomfort in his left leg and apparently needs at least another day. Matt Joyce is getting another start in right field.
Astros designated C Alfredo Gonzalez for assignment.
The move clears a spot for A.J. Reed on the 40-man roster. Gonzalez was batting .158/.236/.205 over 44 games in Double-A and has a decent chance to pass through waivers.
Mets recalled OF Brandon Nimmo from Triple-A Las Vegas.
With Michael Conforto headed down the minors, Nimmo should see plenty of playing time in the Mets' outfield in the coming days. He could slot in as the primary left fielder against right-handed pitching, but he's also capable of playing center field. The 2011 first-round pick was batting .328/.409/.508 with five home runs, 37 RBI, and five stolen bases over 63 games this season in Triple-A. He's worth a shot in deeper fantasy leagues.
Mets optioned OF Michael Conforto to Triple-A Las Vegas.
The move is now official. Conforto has struggled miserably over the past two months while also dealing with a wrist injury. Just getting into a lower-pressure environment and getting a chance to reset could be the best thing for him. He should be back soon if he swings the bat well.
Casey Kelly could take Aaron Blair's spot in the Braves' rotation next Wednesday against the Indians.
Blair was demoted after an ugly start Friday against the Mets. Kelly, who was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett earlier this month, owns a 5.79 ERA and 5/6 K/BB ratio in 18 2/3 innings over one start and seven relief appearances with the Braves this season.
Kris Medlen (shoulder) will continue his minor league rehab assignment Saturday with Triple-A Omaha.
Medlen, who is coming back from a Grade 1 strain of his rotator cuff, posted a 7.20 ERA and 8/2 K/BB ratio in five innings over two starts with Double-A Northwest Arkansas. He appears on track to return in early July.
Royals optioned OF Brett Eibner to Triple-A Omaha.
The move clears a spot for Alex Gordon's return from the disabled list. Eibner is hitting .297 (11-for-37) with a homer and five doubles over 11 games with the Royals this season. He should get another chance at some point this summer.
Royals activated OF Alex Gordon from the 15-day disabled list.
Gordon has been sidelined since May 23 due to a broken scaphoid bone in his right hand, but he was cleared to return after batting .364 (8-for-22) with a homer, a double, and five walks over six minor league rehab games. He'll return to a .211/.319/.331 batting line over 42 games.
