Tyler O'Neill is not in the Cardinals' starting lineup on Wednesday afternoon against the Royals.

O'Neill went 1-for-4 with a single and three strikeouts on Tuesday night versus Kansas City after homering in three consecutive games. Harrison Bader is starting in right field on Wednesday, with Dexter Fowler again on the bench. Tommy Pham is in center and Marcell Ozuna is in left.

Michael Pineda threw off a mound Wednesday for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Pineda had the reconstructive elbow procedure last July 18 and won't be an option for the Twins' rotation until at least mid-August or maybe even September. The 29-year-old right-hander signed a two-year, $10 million contract with Minnesota this past winter. He's more of a 2019 piece for the Twins.

Austin Hedges (elbow) hit a three-run homer in his second rehab game Tuesday with Triple-A El Paso.

It would appear that Hedges will be ready to return to the Padres' active roster this weekend. He's been on the shelf since May 1 because of tendinitis in his right elbow. Raffy Lopez and A.J. Ellis are currently sharing time at catcher for San Diego.
May 23 - 11:21 AM

Colin Rea (elbow) allowed four runs over 3 1/3 innings Tuesday in his rehab debut with Double-A San Antonio.

It was his first live game since July 2016 -- he underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery in November 2016. Rea struck out two, walked one, and yielded six hits, including a home run. The 27-year-old right-hander will need several more rehab starts before he becomes an option for the San Diego rotation.

Astros recalled OF Jake Marisnick from Triple-A Fresno.

Marisnick was demoted to the minor leagues on May 16 after batting just .141/.151/.282 over his first 87 plate appearances, but the Astros need him right now with Josh Reddick battling a leg infection.
May 23 - 10:54 AM

Astros placed OF Josh Reddick on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 21, with a leg infection.

This has been a lingering thing for Reddick, though he should be able to return from the DL when first eligible late next week. Jake Marisnick will replace him on the Astros' roster for now. Reddick, 31, has a .740 OPS with six homers and one stolen base in 42 games this year.

Jake Lamb is out of the Diamondbacks' starting lineup on Wednesday against the Brewers.

Lamb just returned last Friday from an AC sprain in his left shoulder, so he'll take a breather for Wednesday afternoon's series finale at Miller Park. Deven Marrero is starting at third base and batting eighth versus Brewers right-hander Brent Suter.
May 23 - 10:51 AM

Hunter Pence (thumb) hit a grand slam in a rehab game Tuesday with Triple-A Sacramento.

He also had an RBI single, driving in five total runs on the night. Pence has made some mechanical adjustments to his swing while on the disabled list with a right thumb sprain and he is suddenly batting .319 over 76 total plate appearances at the Triple-A level. The 35-year-old outfielder should be activated by the Giants within the next several days.
