Jimmy Graham played on 65.2 percent of the snaps against the Bears in Week 15.

Dec 18 - 11:03 AM

Broncos re-signed TE Dominique Jones.

We don't think this has anything to do with the status of Julius Thomas' ankle. It's likely a special teams move as the Broncos have been hit by injuries at linebacker this week.
Dec 18 - 10:46 AM

Saints signed K Dustin Hopkins to their practice squad.

It's a strange move as NFL teams rarely waste practice squad spots on kickers. Although Shayne Graham missed a 51-yarder Monday night, he's still 19-of-22 on the year. We still like Graham as a solid fantasy kicking play at home against the Falcons Sunday as long as there's no funny business going on with Hopkins.

CBS' Jason La Canfora says "every expectation" is that Case Keenum will start Sunday's game against the Ravens.

Bill O'Brien isn't tipping his hand between Keenum and Thad Lewis. But Keenum makes more sense as he was with the team throughout the offseason program and training camp before losing his backup job to Tom Savage and Ryan Mallett. However, Keenum was brutal in four preseason games going 28-of-52 (53.8%) for 254 yards (4.88 YPA) with zero touchdowns and two interceptions, good for a 51.3 passer rating. He's not even a two-quarterback league option against a Ravens defense that can cover their secondary woes with a swarming front seven.

Eagles OLB Trent Cole has undergone left hand surgery and is out for Saturday's game against the Redskins.

Cole's status for Week 17 is unknown. It's a hit to the Eagles' depth on the edge, but replacement Brandon Graham is actually an upgrade. Cole, owed $10M in 2015, is likely in his final days as an Eagle.

The Indy Star suggests Reggie Wayne (triceps) might have his snap count reduced over the final two weeks of the regular season.

The Colts already backed off Wayne a bit in Weeks 14 and 15, playing him on just 75.6 percent of the snaps. Now they've clinched the AFC South and have almost no shot at a first-round bye. So resting Wayne in order to get him 100 percent for the Wild Card game makes plenty of sense. Donte Moncrief and Hakeem Nicks will have roles against the Cowboys Sunday, with Moncrief ticketed for far more snaps.
Dec 18 - 9:29 AM

Justin Forsett (ankle, knee) is no longer listed on the injury report.

Forsett has rotated out more often that usual the last two weeks, averaging 14.5 carries during that span vs. 22.0 the previous three weeks. Perhaps knee and ankle issues were to blame. Forsett was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, a strong sign he's nearing 100 percent again ahead of Sunday's game at Houston. "I feel good," he said. "This is actually one of the best Wednesdays that I've had in a while. So, my body is feeling good, maintaining, feeling ready to go."
Dec 18 - 9:22 AM

Alfonso Smith and Phillip Tanner are the 49ers' only healthy running backs right now.

Carlos Hyde (ankle, back) is doubtful and Frank Gore remains in the concussion protocol. Smith didn't make the team out of training camp, but was re-signed in mid-November. The veteran has rushed 52 times for 162 yards (3.11 YPC) with two touchdowns in his five-year career. Tanner, who has seen time with the Cowboys and Bills, had been on the street for the last month. Ideally, fantasy owners will be avoiding this situation. If forced, Smith would be the preferred play as the likely starter and one with far more experience in the scheme.
