Brian Matusz was ejected from Saturday's game for having a foreign substance on his right arm.

Milwaukee's Will Smith was suspended eight games for the same offense earlier this week and Matusz should expect a similar punishment. The up-and-down Matusz carries a losing record (1-2) and has almost as many walks (ten) as strikeouts (11) this season.

Brandon Morrow (right shoulder inflammation) will throw another bullpen session on Sunday.

If the session goes well, Morrow will likely pitch in a simulated game on Wednesday or Thursday. Morrow was 2-0 with a 2.73 ERA before he got hurt. Odrisamer Despaigne will head back to the bullpen upon Morrow's return.

Wil Myers (left wrist tendinitis) has not resumed swinging.

Myers is eligible to come off the disabled list Tuesday but manager Bud Black said it's "highly unlikely" the team will activate him that quickly. Will Venable has played close to every day with Myers out of the lineup. Melvin Upton, who has been out all year with a foot injury, might make it back before Myers.

Eric Aybar went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Saturday's loss to the Red Sox.

Aybar's double in the eighth inning was his seventh of the season. A hot May has helped boost Aybar's numbers and he's now hitting .274/.320/.335 with a homer, 14 RBI and 19 runs scored.
May 23 - 10:41 PM

Mike Napoli hit two long homers and finished 2-for-3 with three RBI and a walk in Saturday's 8-3 win over the Angels.

Napoli absolutely owned Angels starter C.J. Wilson on Saturday, smacking a laser of a solo homer in the second inning, then uncorking a two-run moonshot in the sixth that completely cleared the Green Monster. The Red Sox are dying for some kind of offensive production and it would be a welcome sign if Napoli could find a groove. He's hitting a disappointing .193/.292/.385 with seven homers, 16 RBI and 17 runs scored over 135 at-bats.
May 23 - 10:37 PM

Steven Wright had a great start against the Angels on Saturday, allowing just two runs on four hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Wright's making the most of the Red Sox injury issues, as there are opportunities for him to start as long as Justin Masterson (shoulder) is on the disabled list. The Angels struck early, with a two-run double by Cole Kalhoun in the first inning, but Wright didn't allow another run the rest of the way. He struck out two and walked one in the contest. Through 22 innings this season, Wright has allowed 10 runs and holds an 11/8 K/BB ratio. There's nothing particularly appetizing about him as a fantasy prospect, but he could work as a streaming option in the right match-up, assuming future starts.
May 23 - 10:33 PM

C.J. Wilson had an up-and-down start in a loss to the Red Sox on Saturday, allowing four runs on seven hits over six innings.

The start would have looked better if Mike Napoli had taken the day off, as Napoli took Wilson deep for a pair of homers to account for three of the Red Sox four runs off the southpaw. The other run came home on an RBI single by Mookie Betts. During his six innings on the mound, Wilson struck out six and walked three while allowing seven hits. Despite the less-than-stellar outing, he still holds a 3.36 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 42/16 K/BB ratio over 59 innings. Thankfully for Wilson, he won't have to face Napoli when he takes on the Tigers in his next start.
May 23 - 10:32 PM

Matt Carpenter went 1-for-3 with an RBI single in a rain-shortened loss to the Royals on Saturday.

Carpenter lofted his run-scoring single to shallow center in the fifth inning. It would be the last run either team scored before the rains began to fall. Despite hitting .323/.385/.581 with seven homers and 25 RBI, it appears that not even Carpenter can control the weather as of yet. Something to work on in the off-season.
