Rickie Weeks hit a game-winning two-run homer in the eighth inning as the Brewers beat the Astros 3-1 on Wednesday.

It was Weeks' first game hitting leadoff this year, and he responded by going 2-for-4 with the winning home run. The homer was his sixth of the season, and while he's taken a while to get going his average has been slowly rising since the middle of May. He's always a slow starter, so expect him to continue to get better as the season rolls on.

Francisco Rodriguez earned his fifth save of the season, number 299 of his career, against the Astros on Wednesday.

K-Rod is now just one away from 300, a number only 24 others have reached in baseball's history. Jim Henderson will be reinstalled as the Brewers' closer once K-Rod gets to the plateau, but even then Rodriguez should continue to be a valuable pitcher in leagues that count holds. He has a 0.68 ERA and 0.75 WHIP through 13 1/3 innings and will likely become the team's setup man once Henderson is back closing.

Jose Altuve went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases on Wednesday, but the Astros fell to the Brewers.

Altuve took it upon himself to generate all the Astros offense on Wednesday, as he twice stole third base and scored the only Houston run on a sacrifice fly. The stolen bases gives him 16 on the year and seven in his last seven games.

Kyle Lohse allowed one run over six innings in a no-decision against the Astros on Wednesday.

Lohse can't buy a win. The right-hander has limited teams to two earned runs over his last two starts with no wins to show for it, and he's won just two games all season. It doesn't take away from the effort on Wednesday, as he allowed six hits and two walks, striking out five. He'll look for better luck Tuesday against the Cubs.

Chad Tracy is dealing with a strain in his midsection.

Tracy said he was available to pinch-hit Wednesday, but he thinks he might have to deal with the discomfort for a few days. It shouldn't be a long-term concern.
Jun 19 - 11:38 PM

Erik Bedard allowed just one run over 7 1/3 innings on Wednesday but was forced to take a no-decision as the Astros lost to the Brewers.

Bedard was in vintage form, as he allowed only four hits and two walks while striking out eight. Save for one start, the southpaw has actually been very good since early May but has just two wins to show for it. Such is life as a Houston Astros pitcher. He'll take on the Cardinals next on Tuesday.
Jun 19 - 11:34 PM

Roger Bernadina (eye) will visit a doctor on Thursday.

Bernadina developed an infection in his left eye prior to Wednesday's game and was unavailable to play in that contest. It shouldn't be a big deal, but the Nats should provide an update prior to Thursday's contest versus the Rockies.

Wil Myers - OF - Rays

Wil Myers hit a two-run double, his first two runs batted in, to help the Rays beat the Red Sox 6-2 on Wednesday.

The hit, which came in the seventh inning, was Myers' only hit in five at-bats on the night, but it was an important one in his history. Through three games with the club he has just two hits, but expect Myers to start showing more of why the Rays traded for him as he continues to get at-bats.
