Nick Castellanos went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 11-inning loss to the Mariners.

Castellanos drilled a two-run home run in the second inning off of Taijuan Walker, extending his hitting streak to eight games in the process. He's gone yard in back-to-back games, giving him six on the season with 36 RBI and a .244/.288/.373 batting line.

Austin Jackson clubbed a grand slam and walked in six plate appearances on Tuesday as the Mariners outlasted the Tigers in 11 innings on Tuesday.

Jackson cleared the bases with a four-bagger in the third inning against Kyle Ryan. It was a rare sign of life at the plate for the outfielder, who's still only hitting .254/.300/.363 with four home runs and 19 RBI with eight stolen bases.
Jul 8 - 1:59 AM

Robinson Cano sent the Mariners to a victory in the 11th inning with a walk-off single on Tuesday against the Tigers.

Cano finished 2-for-6. He had hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to break a 5-5 tie. In the 11th, the Mariners put runners on first and second with one out for him and he delivered, driving a single to right field to plate the winning run. Cano may finally be figuring things out at the plate, as he's registered multiple hits in four of seven July games. He's still carrying a measly .253/.292/.373 triple-slash line with six home runs and 29 RBI, however.
Jul 8 - 1:57 AM

Jake Lamb went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base as the Diamondbacks edged the Rangers 4-2 on Tuesday.

Lamb's two-run single in the fifth inning opened the scoring, and the Diamondbacks would never relinquish the lead. It was another strong showing for the 24-year-old, who continues to round into form after a foot injury stole nearly two months from him. Lamb is now hitting .304/.376/.446 through 34 games and has forced Yasmany Tomas to a corner outfield spot with his play. Lamb will look to finish strong ahead of next week's All-Star break.
Jul 8 - 1:46 AM

Yasmany Tomas went 2-for-5 with a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Rangers.

The multi-hit game was the fourth for Tomas in his last seven contests. He's made it look easy through 66 games, batting .316/.353/.447 with five homers and 35 RBI. The 24-year-old has also chipped in five stolen bases and 23 runs scored in his first major league campaign.
Jul 8 - 1:38 AM

Paul Goldschmidt did a little of everything Tuesday, finishing 2-for-3 with two walks, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base against the Rangers.

Goldschmidt walked, stole second base and scored in the fifth inning and later added an RBI single in the eighth. The stolen base was his 16th of the season, bringing him with two steals of his single-season high. He certainly can do it all, leading the National League in batting average (.351), RBI (68) and runs scored (59) while ranking among the leaders in almost every other category with a few days left before the All-Star break.
Jul 8 - 1:35 AM

Brad Ziegler pitched a perfect ninth inning against the Rangers on Tuesday to earn his 13th save of the season.

The save was Ziegler's first since June 28, as he'd been used in non-save situations his previous four times out. Ziegler struck out one in the scoreless inning of work. The right-hander has been terrific all year, owning a 1.22 ERA and 0.84 WHIP through 37 innings, and he should continue to see what save chances the Diamondbacks do have moving forward.
Jul 8 - 1:27 AM

Yovani Gallardo allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Gallardo did his best to keep the Rangers in the game, holding the D'backs to three runs despite allowing eight hits and walking five. He earned a free pass after tossing 26 1/3 scoreless innings over his previous four starts. The loss was Gallardo's first since May 19, dropping him to 7-7 on the year. The right-hander owns a strong 2.67 ERA and 1.20 WHIP at the All-Star break.
