Jurickson Profar posted a bases-clearing three-run double in the sixth inning Wednesday against the Yankees.

The big knock off of reliever David Robertson was enough to push the Rangers over the hump as they held on for a wild 12-10 victory. He is still slashing .237/.313/.410 so far this season but he also has 26 RBI through 45 games which already ties a season best for runs batted in. It appears Profar is finally living up to his immense potential, and being healthy certainly helps.

Jared Hughes allowed one hit in a scoreless ninth inning with the game tied in a non-save situation versus the Pirates on Wednesday.

This is significant because it is a clue that Hughes is likely to take over as the closer while Raisel Iglesias (biceps) is on the disabled list. Hughes got a save on Saturday while getting the last five outs of a ballgame against the Dodgers. Reds manager Jim Riggleman talked about using a committee in the ninth inning but fantasy owners should expect Hughes to get the bulk of the save opportunities. He has been the primary set-up man all year and his main competition for the closer job is the left-handed Amir Garrett. David Hernandez has also been solid since starting the season late. Hughes has a 1.26 ERA with 22 strikeouts and six walks in 28 2/3 innings in his first season with the Reds.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa finished 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and three RBI in Wednesday's 12-10 slugfest victory against the Yankees.

The 23-year-old utility player racked up a career high in RBI in a single game and he has collected two or more hits in back-to-back games for the first time as a major leaguer. He is 7-for-21 (.333) across the past seven outings to raise his average from .245 to .260 just since May 15. Kiner-Falefa has some decent speed, but he is still only worth considering in deeper AL-only fantasy leagues at this point.
May 24 - 12:19 AM

Ronald Guzman finished 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and two runs scored in Wednesday's 12-10 victory against the Yankees.

Guzman has swatted homers in three straight outings, as there is something about Yankees pitching that agrees with him. He is still slashing just .218/.288/.426, but the power lately has been nice. If it continues he could be worth a look in deeper mixed formats. For now, he remains useful only in AL-only fantasy play and as a low-end DFS option while running hot.

Homer Bailey allowed four runs on 10 hits in five innings and took a no-decision against the Pirates on Wednesday.

He teed up a two-run tater to catcher Francisco Cervelli in the first inning. Bailey notched three strikeouts and issued three free passes in yet another dismal effort. The Reds eventually tied the game before falling in extra innings. Bailey is 1-6 with a 6.21 ERA and 1.69 WHIP after 11 starts. The Reds have starter Anthony DeSclafani (oblique) expected to come off the disabled list soon and may decide to send Bailey to the bullpen despite his massive contract.

Keone Kela worked a perfect ninth inning while striking out the side Wednesday against the Yankees to nail down his 10th save.

Kela needed just 12 pitches, throwing nine for strikes, as he converted his 10th save in as many opportunities. Many will look to his 4.50 ERA, which is very unsightly for a closer, but all nine of the runs he has allowed have come in non-save situations. While they still count against the fantasy bottom line, he is lights out when working in save situations.

Shohei Ohtani went 1-for-4 and drove in two runs to tie the game in the ninth inning to key a 5-4 win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

He came to the plate with the bases loaded against closer Tyler Clippard with his team trailing by two in the ninth inning. He laced a single to center field that plated Mike Trout and Justin Upton. The next batter, Andrelton Simmons, also singled to drive in two more runs. Serving as the designated hitter, Ohtani also walked once and struck out twice in the contest. The two-way superstar has an exceptional .308 batting average and .582 slugging percentage with six homers and 19 RBI in addition to his exploits on the mound.
May 24 - 12:05 AM

Doug Fister was touched up for eight runs - six earned - and 11 hits over just 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision Wednesday against the Yankees.

Fister hasn't won since March 30, a span of eight consecutive starts coming up empty. Homers have been a problem lately, as he has served up seven home runs across 24 innings over his past four outings. He'll try to turn things around Monday in Seattle to kick off a two-start week. He remains useful only in AL-only fantasy leagues at this point until he starts to tick off wins more regularly.
