Robinson Cano (illness) remains out of the Mariners starting lineup on Friday.

Cano got the night off on Thursday as he was dealing with a stomach issue and apparently is still under the weather. Willie Bloomquist will fill in at second base.

Erick Aybar (hamstring) felt much better on Friday and expects to return to the lineup on Saturday.

While he isn't in the lineup on Friday, he appears to have avoided any serious injury. Look for him to return at some point over the weekend.
May 29 - 6:40 PM

Mariners placed LHP Joe Beimel on the restricted list.

He will be away from the team for a day or two to attend his son's high school graduation. Lucas Luetge has been recalled to take his place in the bullpen.
May 29 - 6:26 PM

Mariners recalled LHP Lucas Luetge from Triple-A Tacoma.

He will serve as an extra arm in the bullpen for a couple of days while Joe Beimel tends to a personal matter. Luetge will work in muddle relief.
May 29 - 6:22 PM

Eduardo Rodriguez will start next Wednesday against the Twins.

Rodriguez was electric in his major league debut Thursday, spinning 7 2/3 shutout innings against the Rangers with seven strikeouts, two walks and just three hits allowed. The Red Sox will go with six starters for at least one more turn through the rotation, but Rodriguez isn't going anywhere as long as he keeps pitching well.
May 29 - 6:00 PM

Josh Harrison is not in the Pirates' lineup Friday.

It appears to simply be a routine day off. Jung Ho Kang is at third base Friday, with Jordy Mercer handling shortstop.
May 29 - 5:57 PM

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said Friday that he's optimistic Jose Bautista (shoulder) will be ready to play right field on Monday.

Bautista has been limited to designated hitter duty since late April due to a sore right shoulder. He's been throwing regularly since receiving a cortisone shot last weekend, though, and hasn't had any setbacks. The Blue Jays will be in Washington on Monday and not have the DH spot available.
May 29 - 5:41 PM

Travis d'Arnaud's (finger) return from the disabled list will be delayed due to a bone bruise in his wrist.

It's not clear at this point how he suffered the injury or how long it will set him back. D'Arnaud had been slated for activation from the disabled list next week. He's been on the shelf since April 20 with a fractured right pinkie finger.
