Matt Hasselbeck missed Tuesday's practice because of an illness.
Andrew Luck (shoulder) took most of the first-team reps. It's looking like Luck will make his return against Houston on Thursday night. Hasselbeck did a nice job versus Jacksonville (30-of-47, 282 yards, one touchdown) but probably won't be needed in Week 5.
Updating an earlier report, Andrew Luck (shoulder) was limited at Tuesday's practice.
Luck wasn't seen at the 15-minute portion of practice open to the media but coach Chuck Pagano said he took most of the Colts' first-team reps. Matt Hasselbeck wasn't available Tuesday because of an illness. Though the Colts have been careful not to give away too much info on Luck's status, we'd tentatively expect him to return Thursday against Houston.
Saints signed P Brandon Fields.
Field was let go by the Dolphins in training camp. He'll fill in for Thomas Morstead, who is out with a strained quad.
Charles Johnson (ribs) hopes to return after the Vikings' bye week.
The Vikings are off this week but return October 18 to play Kansas City. Johnson missed his fourth practice in a row on Tuesday. If Johnson isn't ready by Week 6, expect Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen to play a bigger role in the Vikings' passing attack.
Andrew Luck (shoulder) was not seen at the portion of practice open to the media on Tuesday.
Neither was Matt Hasselbeck. It's suspected the two were warming up indoors. Luck expects to play Thursday against the Texans but it would be nice to see him get through a full practice first. Hasselbeck performed admirably in Luck's absence last week, but that was against a subpar Jacksonville squad.
Rams re-signed OLB Jo-Lonn Dunbar.
The Rams needed linebacker depth with Alec Ogletree (broken leg) done for the year. Dunbar received PFF's fourth worst 4-3 outside linebacker grade out of 40 qualifiers last season.
Eagles CB Byron Maxwell (bruised quad) claims he "can't really run, and slowing down is hard."
Maxwell still expects to play this week but we're not as convinced. It doesn't sound like he's close to running at full speed, which is kind of a big problem when you're tasked with defending the other team's best receiver. If Maxwell can't play against the Saints this week, Eric Rowe would start in his place.
Vontae Davis (foot) was absent from Tuesday's practice.
With the Colts playing the Texans on Thursday, Davis is in a race against the clock. If Darius Butler has to start in his place, DeAndre Hopkins could be in for a monster game.
