Angels' manager Mike Scioscia confirmed Friday that Jaime Barria will start on Sunday against the Giants.

The 21-year-old hurler has a chance to stick around given the injury situation in the Angels' rotation. He's worth a look as a streaming option against the struggling Giants' offense and is an interesting add in AL-only formats.

Giants placed OF Hunter Pence on the 10-day disabled list with a right thumb sprain.

Mac Williamson was recalled from Triple-A to take his place on the active roster. Perhaps the thumb injury played a role in the 35-year-old outfielder's early-season struggles, at least we'd like to hope so, as he was hitting just .172/.197/.190 with no homers, three RBI and an atrocious 22/2 K/BB ratio in his first 61 plate appearances.

Giants recalled OF Mac Williamson from Triple-A Fresno.

Williamson was off to a ridiculous start at Triple-A Fresno, hitting .487/.600/1.026 with six homers and 16 RBI in his first 11 games. He'll start in left field and bat seventh for the Giants on Friday against Andrew Heaney and the Angels.

Reds optioned LHP Cody Reed to Triple-A Louisville.

The 25-year-old has appeared in four games for the Reds this season, registering a 5.40 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 7/1 K/BB ratio. It sounds as though he'll stay in the rotation at Triple-A until he's needed again.
Apr 20 - 6:39 PM

Reds activated OF Scott Schebler from the 10-day disabled list.

Schebler is active and with the Reds on Friday, though he is not in the starting lineup. The 27-year-old outfielder was slashing .333/.385/.667 through his first 13 plate appearances before hitting the disabled list with an ulnar nerve contusion in his right elbow.

Cardinals' general manager John Mozeliak said Friday that Alex Reyes will begin a minor league rehab assignment in mid-May.

Mozeliak also noted that when Reyes does eventually return to the Cardinals, "all arrows point to it being as a starter". The Cardinals have enough confusion in their bullpen at the moment, and Reyes' future remains as a fixture atop the Cardinals' rotation, so this seems to make the most sense for all parties.
Apr 20 - 6:33 PM

J.D. Martinez is absent from the Red Sox' lineup for Friday's contest against the Athletics.

It looks to be just a regular day of rest for the hard-hitting outfielder, though it comes at a curious time when he's scorching hot at the plate. Martinez is hitting .469/.471/.844 with three homers and nine RBI over his last eight games.
Apr 20 - 6:31 PM

Anthony Rendon (toe) remains out of the Nationals' lineup for a sixth straight game on Friday.

It has now been a week since Anthony Rendon fouled a ball off of his toe, and he has yet to return to action. The club continues to take things day-to-day though and maintains that he won't require a trip to the disabled list. Wilmer Difo is starting in his place at the hot corner again and will bat eighth against Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers.
