Blue Jays sent LHP Jeff Beliveau outright to Triple-A Buffalo.

Beliveau cleared waivers after being designated for assignment over the weekend. The 30-year-old owns a 7.47 ERA in 15 2/3 innings with the Jays this year and will serve as relief depth in the minors.

Willson Contreras is expected to get the day off Wednesday.

Contreras is starting his fifth straight game Tuesday, so he could use the breather. Victor Caratini will fill in and catch Jake Arrieta.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the Athletics are prioritizing young center fielders in trade talks for Sonny Gray.

As such, Morosi hears that the Athletics have interest in Yankees prospect outfielder Estevan Florial, who has enjoyed a breakout year with Class A Charleston and recently played in the Futures Game. It's unclear if the Yankees would be willing to part with him in this particular deal, but the price tag figures to be high for a pitcher who is under team control though 2019. The Yankees have a clear need for a starter.

Brewers activated RHP Brandon Woodruff from the 10-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Woodruff was poised to make his major league debut last month before going down with a right hamstring strain. Now that the 24-year-old is back to full health, he'll continue to serve as rotation depth in the minors.

Bartolo Colon allowed three earned runs, eight hits and no walks over five innings with two strikeouts in a no-decision Monday in a road start against the Dodgers.

Colon threw 44 of his 64 pitches for strikes, pitching slightly better than his team debut against the Yankees last Tuesday. Still, he owns a rough 7.00 ERA over his first two starts since signing with Minnesota. Since the Twins are in contention, it's hard to see them giving him many more chances until he shows dramatic improvement soon.
Jul 25 - 10:56 AM

Kyle Schwarber is out of the Cubs' lineup Tuesday against the White Sox.

He'll take a seat against lefty Carlos Rodon. Ian Happ will play left field.
Jul 25 - 10:32 AM

Jason Heyward is out of Tuesday's lineup against the White Sox.

Ben Zobrist, Albert Almora, Jr., and Ian Happ will start from right to left in Chicago's outfield. Zobrist is hitting leadoff against lefty Carlos Rodon.

Tyler Chatwood (calf) said he felt strong after throwing one simulated inning Monday.

Chatwood, who landed on the disabled list earlier this month with a strained right calf, said he threw about 20 pitches. He's eligible to return on Wednesday, but it's unclear if he'll be ready by then. Chatwood owns a 4.74 ERA over 19 starts this season and could pitch out of the bullpen upon his return.
