Titans NT Sammie Lee Hill re-injured his knee ahead of last Friday's third preseason game and may need surgery.

Hill opened camp on the active/PUP list after spraining his knee at OTAs. Warming up for Tennessee's third preseason game, he re-injured himself, but believes the two issues are unrelated. Hill thinks his latest injury is to his meniscus.

The Giants are "optimistic" MLB Jon Beason (knee) will play Week 1.

Beason went down with a knee sprain in the Giants' second preseason game. On Tuesday, he was spotted running, backpedaling, and doing individual drills on a side field. The Giants are a better defense with Beason manning the middle.

Packers CBs coach Joe Whitt said Casey Hayward is the starting corner opposite Sam Shields.

"He's my starter," Whitt said. "So I'm fine with him." Hayward has had a quiet summer, while rookies Damarious Randall, Quinten Rollins, and LaDarius Gunter have all stood out and made plays. After strictly covering the slot the previous two seasons, Hayward will get a chance to play outside in the base defense.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Tom Silverstein expects the Packers to sign a veteran receiver.

Silverstein mentions three ex-Packers: free agent WR Jarrett Boykin -- who was released by the Panthers on Tuesday -- Giants WR James Jones, and Lions WR Jeremy Ross. Boykin caught just three passes for Green Bay in 2014.

The Redskins envision Alfred Morris and Matt Jones as a "physical tandem" in the backfield.

Jones has cut up the preseason, averaging 6.95 YPC on 20 carries. He hits the hole with such explosiveness as a powerful downhill runner that the Redskins have been forced to give him back-to-back rest days to open up practice this week. Jones hasn't passed Morris on the depth chart, but the Redskins will use him plenty this year, giving him some standalone value as an RB4. If Morris were to get hurt, Jones would come into play as a high-end RB2.

WGR 550 Buffalo's Sal Cappacio reports the Bills are "having internal debate" on whether or not to release QB Matt Cassel.

Cassel has had an up-and-down six months in Buffalo, going from struggling badly to having a so-so training camp and preseason. Meanwhile, Tyrod Taylor has lit Buffalo on fire with his legs and earned the starting job. E.J. Manuel has performed in the preseason with a 146.9 passer rating, giving him the edge over Cassel. Releasing Cassel would save the Bills $4.75 million against the cap.

With the indefinite benching of Robert Griffin III, the Miami Dolphins D/ST will be squaring off with Washington QB Kirk Cousins in Week 1.

The matchup for the Dolphins D/ST got a bit more interesting when RGIII was assigned clipboard duty for the 2015 season. Cousins has 18 career touchdown passes and 19 career interceptions to his credit, and will be facing a fierce defensive front led by Ndamukong Suh. The Dolphins were sixth in the NFL in pass defense in 2014, allowing 222.3 passing yards per game, and will be a highly recommended Week 1 D/ST play despite playing on the road.

Seattle free safety Earl Thomas (shoulder) will return to the field in Week 1 when the Seahawks travel to St. Louis to face Nick Foles and the Rams.

Fantasy owners won't need any additional convincing to start the Seattle D/ST in Week 1, but with Thomas back in the fold, the Seahawks defense will be near full strength for their season opener. Strong safety Kam Chancellor (holdout) is a major piece that Seattle is still missing, but they should have more than enough fire power to turn in a solid performance against a Rams team that could be starting Benny Cunningham at running back.
