Browns signed G/T Vinston Painter.

Darren McFadden is listed as the No. 2 running back on the Raiders' "unofficial" depth chart.

Maurice Jones-Drew is the lead dog in the Raiders' committee, but Raiders.com still expects DMC to receive "plenty of carries." McFadden rushed 12 times for 55 yards (4.58 YPC) and a touchdown in the preseason. He's an RB4/5 for fantasy purposes.

Maurice Jones-Drew is still listed as the No. 1 running back on the Raiders' "unofficial" depth chart.

He'll be the lead back in the Raiders' aging and injury-prone backfield, with Darren McFadden coming on to change the pace. Neither will be fantasy dynamos, but MJD is an acceptable RB3/FLEX.

The San Francisco Chronicle expects Matt McGloin, and not Matt Schaub, to back up Derek Carr in Sunday's opener.

It's unclear if reporter Vittorio Tafur's educated guess is related to Schaub's elbow "injury." Either way, a demotion to third string wouldn't be a benching, but a throwing in of the towel. It's the second straight year the Raiders' front office has made a disastrous quarterback decision, only to admit its mistake right before Week 1. That's not an easy way to make a living.

BuffaloBills.com admits it a "remote" possibility that Kiko Alonso (knee, NFI) takes the field this season.

The Bills sending Alonso to NFI instead of I.R. hinted at a sliver of hope that he could play this season, but it's extremely doubtful. Even a Peterson-esque recovery wouldn't guarantee that Alonso could contribute in December. The Bills would have much more to lose than gain by rushing their young defensive linchpin.

Patriots OC Josh McDaniels was "really impressed" with Tim Wright's play in the preseason finale.

"We just got him, and he was able to come in here and learn enough to be able to go out there and play for us in a preseason game for (43 snaps)," McDaniels said. "He's working hard (and) certainly a bright kid, and has some talent that hopefully we can utilize." The Pats are going to deploy Wright as a pass catcher, but he's unlikely to see enough looks to rise about the low-end TE2 ranks.

Bengals agreed to terms with DL Kevin Vickerson.

Vickerson broke the news on his Instagram account. Battling a hip injury, Vickerson was released by the Broncos at final cuts. He'll provide interior-line depth for a team getting back DT Geno Atkins (knee).

Ex-Cowboys, Chiefs and Patriots OG Brian Waters has announced his retirement from the NFL.

A 1999 undrafted free agent, Waters ended up playing 13 seasons, infamously sitting out 2012 as the Patriots refused to release his rights so he could play closer to his native Texas. A six-time Pro Bowler, Waters was a 2004 All-Pro for Dick Vermeil's high-powered Chiefs offense. Now 37, Waters hangs up his cleats having made 170 career starts.
