Zach Britton earned his fourth save of the season Saturday in the Orioles' 4-1 win over the Red Sox.

Britton retired all three batters he faced -- two via strikeout. The 27-year-old closer has been missing bats at an elevated rate so far this season and has nailed down saves in four of the O's six victories.

Chris Davis slugged his second home run of the season Saturday in the Orioles' win over the Red Sox.

It was a two-run opposite field shot that sailed over the Green Monster. Davis also singled, though he struck out in his three other plate appearances. The 29-year-old slugger is batting .256/.310/.487 with seven RBI and 18 strikeouts in 10 games this season.

Chris Tillman hurled 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball Saturday as the Orioles topped the Red Sox.

It was a nice bounceback from his last start, in which he he gave up seven runs -- three earned -- to the Blue Jays and didn't make it out of the third inning. Tillman struck out five Red Sox and walked two on Saturday afternoon at Fenway Park, moving to 2-1 on the season with a 5.52 ERA, 1.70 WHIP, and 10/8 K/BB ratio in 14 2/3 innings. He will face the Blue Jays on the road next time out.

Clay Buchholz surrendered two earned runs over six innings Saturday in a loss to the Orioles.

Buchholz actually did a pretty good job of damage control considering he gave up 11 hits. He has now surrendered 23 hits in 16 1/3 innings this season and is sporting a 1.65 WHIP through three starts. The 30-year-old righty gets the Rays on the road next week.

The Nationals are likely to activate Denard Span (abdomen) from the disabled list on Sunday.

Span underwent core surgery on March 9 and has spent the last month and a half recovering. He went 4-for-8 with a home run during a rehab stint with Low-A Hagerstown and made it through Saturday's team workout with the Nationals without any soreness. Span's return should push rookie Michael Taylor back to the pine, or maybe even Triple-A.

Starlin Castro had a walk-off RBI single in a 7-6 win over the Padres in 11 innings on Saturday.

After Craig Kimbrel walked pinch-hitter David Ross to load the bases with one out in the 11th, Castro pulled a pitch into left field to win it for Chicago. He finished the day 3-for-6 with two RBI and a run scored. The 25-year-old has just two extra-base hits (including one home run) so far, but he's hitting .317 (13-for-41) over 10 games.

Justin Upton is day-to-day with a strained quad.

It's unclear when the injury occurred as Upton never left Saturday's game against the Cubs. Upton has been his usual productive self this season, hitting .326 with three home runs and eight RBI. Will Venable could see time in left field if Upton has to sit out a few games.
Apr 18 - 6:43 PM

Hector Rondon was charged with two runs and took a blown save Saturday against the Padres.

The Cubs went into the top of the ninth with a 6-2 lead, so Phil Coke initially got the call. However, he gave up back-to-back hits before Rondon entered the game and quickly allowed an RBI single to Justin Upton and an RBI double to Will Middlebrooks. Jedd Gyorko then grounded out to drive in another run. Rondon got Alexi Amarista to strike out swinging for the first out of the inning, but Yangervis Solarte followed with a game-tying single. He managed to avoid any more damage, but this went down as his first blown save since last August 5. Still, he's been great for the Cubs and the circumstances for him entering the game Saturday were unusual, so there's nothing to be concerned about.
