MLB.com's Mark Feinsand reports that Derek Holland is drawing some interest.

Holland has had an up-and-down season, posting a 5.12 ERA and 82/42 K/BB ratio over 102 innings for the White Sox. However, apparently that hasn't stopped teams from asking Chicago about the left-hander. Feinsand adds that Melky Cabrera has not been drawing much interest but could be dealt in August.

Royals recalled OF Terrance Gore from Triple-A Omaha.

Gore was with the big club briefly at the beginning of the season but has spent nearly all of the year in the minors, hitting only .231/.290/.277 with 17 steals between Double- and Triple-A.

Brian Johnson is in Boston to have his left shoulder examined due to renewed discomfort.

He dealt with shoulder issues last month, as well. The Red Sox don't think the ailment is serious, but Johnson taking David Price's (elbow) spot in the rotation next week would certainly appear to be up in the air now.

Braves activated INF/OF Micah Johnson from the 60-day disabled list.

Johnson hit .378/.452/.568 over 11 games with Triple-A Gwinnett after coming back from wrist surgery. He'll operate in a utility role.

Phillies purchased the contract of RHP Jesen Therrien from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Therrien, 24, has posted a 1.41 ERA and 65/9 K/BB ratio over 57 1/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A. He'll be making his major league debut when he gets into a game.

Edinson Volquez (knee) will undergo another MRI after the first MRI did not reveal encouraging results.

The Marlins haven't revealed the specific results, but it appears that Volquez might be on the shelf for a while. Obviously, more will be known about his status after the results of his next MRI come in.

J.T. Riddle (biceps) will receive a second opinion on Monday.

The Marlins haven't divulged the specifics on Riddle's left biceps injury, but it sounds like he could be sidelined for a while. "Trying to get a second opinion and go from there," Riddle said. "There’s some tendinitis in there and some other stuff going on in there." Miguel Rojas has been filling in at shortstop for the Marlins.

Twins sent C Anthony Recker outright to Triple-A Rochester.

Recker was acquired earlier this week from the Braves along with Jaime Garcia. He's now off the 40-man roster but remains in the organization.
