Tim Adleman gave up six earned runs in the first inning of his Cactus League start Sunday versus the Cubs.

Anthony Rizzo and Albert Almora both went deep. Adleman didn't allow another run after the first inning, but his outing ended in the middle of the fourth. The 29-year-old right-hander is probably going to be ticketed for Triple-A Louisville when Reds camp comes to a close.

Maikel Franco hit his fifth homer of the spring Sunday in the Phillies' 6-3 win over the Pirates.

Franco has just a .215 average and one double in 65 at-bats, so he's added nothing aside from the homers. Still, the Phillies seem set to proceed with him as their cleanup hitter this year.
Mar 26 - 5:12 PM

Clay Buchholz gave up three runs in 3 1/3 innings Sunday in a no-decision versus the Pirates.

Buchholz hasn't given anyone much reason to be encouraged this spring; he's sporting a 5.94 ERA with nie walks and four homers allowed in 16 2/3 innings. He wouldn't seem to be worth the speculative late pick in mixed leagues this year.
Mar 26 - 5:11 PM

Andrew Knapp went 2-for-4 and hit a two-run homer against the Pirates on Sunday.

Knapp was 5-for-35 with a 15/1 K/BB ratio this spring, so he needed the good day offensively. The Phillies were hoping Knapp would step up this spring and make it clear he's ready to serve as Cameron Rupp's backup. At this point, they'd almost certainly prefer to turn to Ryan Hanigan, but they'd also rather not lose a prospect from their very crowded 40-man in order to make that switch. As a result, it could still be Knapp's job.

Aaron Hicks had a two-run homer and an RBI single to lead the Yankees to a 7-4 win over the Rays on Sunday.

Hicks has his spring OPS up to .946. Aaron Judge also had a couple of hits today and is sitting at .899. It remains likely that Judge will open up as the regular right fielder, but Hicks should still get plenty of playing time between all three outfield spots. He has some AL-only value.
Mar 26 - 4:56 PM

Bryan Mitchell surrendered three runs in three-plus innings Sunday versus the Rays.

This wasn't quite what Mitchell was hoping for with a rotation spot very much on the line. The Yankees could have their rotation candidates pitch once more before making any final decisions, but they'd like to have a better idea about their fourth and fifth starters by this point. Mitchell has a 4.57 ERA this spring, but his K/BB ratio is a fine 22/5 in 21 2/3 innings. We think he's a weaker fantasy sleeper than his competition, most notably Luis Severino and Adam Warren.
Mar 26 - 4:55 PM

Ruben Tejada homered and walked Sunday in the win over the Rays.

Tejada could be a beneficiary of Didi Gregorius' injury, landing a roster spot as a part-time shortstop and backup at second base. He's batting .286 in 35 at-bats this spring.
Mar 26 - 4:52 PM

Matt Andriese was tagged for six runs in 4 1/3 innings by the Yankees on Sunday.

Andriese entered camp as the favorite to open up as the Rays' fifth starter, but he's done nothing to lay claim to the role. He even walked four batters today, which was an oddity from a guy who walked a total of 25 in 127 2/3 innings in the majors last year. Andriese's struggles are likely good news for Blake Snell, who has had similar issues this spring but was on stronger ground for the fourth spot going in.
