Adam Warren evened his record at 3-3 after holding the Royals to one run in 6 1/3 innings on Tuesday.

Warren now has three consecutive quality starts following Tuesday's outing. The lone run scored on a Paulo Orlando home run in the sixth inning, accounting for one of the mere two hits he surrendered on the evening. He also struck out five without issuing a walk. The right-hander has a 3.91 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and a 32/18 K/BB ratio over 50 2/3 innings. Warren will take on the Athletics in a road start next.

Mark Teixeira went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a two-run double in Tuesday's win over the Royals.

Teixeira got the party started early, driving a two-run home run in the first inning off of Jason Vargas. He tacked on a two-run double in the fifth and later scored as the Yankees went up 5-0. Teixeira has shown no signs of slowing down as May nears its end. He's batting .243/.365/.588 with 14 home runs and 35 RBI.

Mike Fiers will start Wednesday's game versus the Giants on three days' rest.

Fiers threw 86 pitches over five innings on Saturday against the Braves. The Brewers still need a starter to replace Wily Peralta (oblique), but they've decided to delay a decision for now. Taylor Jungmann, Tyler Thornburg and Tyler Cravy could be considered for a call-up on Sunday.

Samuel Deduno (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday.

He was cleared for game work after getting through another bullpen session Tuesday with no issues. Deduno should be ready for activation sometime next week.

Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com reports that Phil Coke has received interest from at least six teams.

Coke has been placed on release waivers and will officially become a free agent on Thursday. It sounds like he could land a big league contract despite posting a 6.30 ERA over 16 appearances before the Cubs designated him for assignment.

The Rangers are considering activating Ross Detwiler (shoulder) from the disabled list to start on Saturday against the Red Sox.

Out with left shoulder inflammation, Detwiler threw an extended bullpen session on Tuesday that went well. The Rangers would ideally like to give him at least one rehab start, but Phil Klein was awful in his last start so the club is considering bringing Detwiler back early. "We continue to assess where we’re at," manager Jeff Banister said.

Cory Luebke (elbow) is scheduled to throw a simulated game on Tuesday.

He recently began throwing live batting practice and is ready to take the next step. Working his way back from a second Tommy John surgery, Luebke is hoping to be an option for the Padres in the second half.
May 26 - 8:44 PM

Casey Kelly (elbow) will make his first start of the season for Double-A San Antonio on Thursday.

It will be just his fifth start since he had Tommy John surgery in 2013, as Kelly has battled elbow issues during his recovery. He's posted a 3.79 ERA over 14 relief appearances in the minors this season as the Padres attempt to ease him back into things. Injuries have posed a major roadblock for the former top prospect, but he's still just 25.
