Mark Buehrle allowed two runs over five innings to earn the win against the Rockies on Wednesday.

Buehrle wasn't sharp, as he allowed eight hits and a walk on the evening, but he was good enough to pick up his fourth win. The southpaw has started to find his groove of late, as his ERA is down to 4.60 after spending much of the first two months above 6. He'll try to get his record above .500 on Tuesday as he takes on the Rays in Tampa.

Jonathan Papelbon blew his second save of the season Wednesday, allowing a run on two hits and a walk in a loss to the Nationals.

Papelbon retired the next two hitters after a leadoff single, but he then walked Adam LaRoche before Jayson Werth poked one into left field to knot things up. It was the second blown save of the series for Paps. The Nationals wound up winning in extra innings.
Jun 19 - 10:51 PM

Ian Desmond's 11th-inning grand slam propelled the Nationals to a comeback win over the Phillies Wednesday.

Desmond was hitless with three strikeouts in his first four plate appearances, but he came through in extras, depositing a Michael Stutes hanger into the left-center field seats. The shortstop is now hitting .280 with 10 homers and 38 RBI on the season.
Jun 19 - 10:48 PM

Juan Nicasio allowed four runs -- two earned -- in five innings in a loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Nicasio was hurt mostly by one swing, an Adam Lind three-run homer in the first inning. Otherwise he was fairly effective, limiting the Blue Jays to a total of four hits and a walk on the night. With Jeff Francis being sent to Triple-A, it appears Nicasio's spot in the rotation is safe for now. He'll go again Tuesday in an interleague tilt with the Red Sox in Boston.
Jun 19 - 10:45 PM

Kris Medlen allowed three runs -- one earned -- in seven innings as the Braves topped the Mets 5-3 on Wednesday.

Medlen bounced back from a loss his last time out to limit the Mets to just six hits in his seven innings. He also struck out seven while walking none, continuing a trend in his last six starts in which he has a 33:3 K:BB ratio. His performance of late is much more like the Medlen we saw in 2012 than it was earlier in the season. His next start is scheduled against the Royals in KC on Tuesday.

Francisco Lindor, the eighth overall selection from the 2011 draft, posted a very impressive first half to his season while being named to the Carolina League All-Star team.

The 19-year-old shortstop has certainly held his own during his first taste of High-A ball, hitting .300/.375/.400 with one homer, 23 RBI and 18 stolen bases while playing tremendous defense. He's still a few years away from making an impact for the Indians, but has given no reason to doubt his immense potential thus far.
Jun 19 - 10:34 PM

Chris Johnson went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI as the Braves beat the Mets on Wednesday.

For as good as Johnson has been this year, the homer was surprisingly just his fourth on the year and first since May 13. The Braves recently dealt Johnson's handcuff, Juan Francisco, in what amounted to a vote of confidence in the 28-year-old. He's responded with a .319/.355/.463 line in 56 games.
Jun 19 - 10:28 PM

Shaun Marcum fell to 0-9 as he allowed five runs in 4 2/3 innings against the Braves on Wednesday.

Marcum hasn't been as awful as his record would indicate, but he's now turned in two subpar starts in a row that have seen his ERA balloon from 4.96 to 5.76. Marcum's control failed him on Wednesday, as he walked a season-high four batters to go along with six hits allowed. At this point, it's not hard to see Marcum being the odd man out when Zack Wheeler arrives in New York for good.
