Charlie Morton (hip) will be activated from the disabled list to start on Monday against the Marlins.

Morton has been healthy for a while, but the Pirates wanted him to work on his mechanics as he made his way back from hip surgery. He appears to have accomplished that with a 1.33 ERA and 22 strikeouts over 20 1/3 innings during a rehab assignment. Vance Worley has been moved to the Pirates' bullpen.
May 22 - 4:35 PM

Masahiro Tanaka (forearm, wrist) will throw 65 pitches in his next rehab start for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

The Yankees aren't ruling out activating him from the disabled list after that, although it's possible they'll ask him to make an additional rehab start. Tanaka threw just 41 pitches over three scoreless innings on Thursday for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in his first rehab outing.
May 22 - 4:32 PM

Pablo Sandoval (knee) remained out of the Red Sox' lineup Friday.

Sandoval remains available to pinch hit, but his left knee remains too sore when making throws. He hopes to return to the lineup at some point this weekend. Brock Holt is at third base Friday.
May 22 - 4:29 PM

Tanner Roark is expected to start either on Monday or Tuesday against the Cubs.

With Doug Fister (elbow) out indefinitely, it appears the Nationals are ready to move Roark back into the rotation. He hasn't pitched in five days, but he faced hitters on Friday and figures to be on a pretty limited pitch count Tuesday. The owner of a career 2.70 ERA over 36 starts, Roark should be scooped up in fantasy leagues where he remains unowned.
May 22 - 4:25 PM

Justin Verlander (triceps) will throw a simulated game on Tuesday.

If that goes well, he should then be cleared to begin a rehab assignment. Verlander has been out all season with a strained right triceps but has progressed nicely the last couple weeks after resuming a throwing program. Still, he probably won't be activated until mid-June even in a best-case scenario.
May 22 - 4:17 PM

Samuel Deduno (back) will throw a bullpen session Saturday.

Deduno was sent for an MRI on his ailing back, but it evidently came back clean and he's ready to throw again. He'll be used in long relief once activated.
May 22 - 4:15 PM

Rangers recalled OF Jake Smolinski from Triple-A Round Rock.

Smolinski batted just .140/.290/.220 batting line over 62 plate appearances for the Rangers earlier this season. He'll likely be around only for the weekend, as Josh Hamilton (shoulder) is due to be activated Monday.
May 22 - 4:12 PM

Rangers placed 1B/DH Kyle Blanks on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 20, with a pilonidal cyst.

Blanks was off to a .322/.365/.542 start with three homers over 15 games for the Rangers, but he's now making yet another trip to the DL. It's not clear how long he'll be out. Jake Smolinski has replace him on the roster.

Things are getting heated in Atlanta. Braves just went Michael Pineda on Will Smith, thrown out for a foreign substance.

Seriously no thread? I know he is ancient but he now has more homers then Votto and Carlos Santana.
