Giants activate Marco Scutaro from the 60-day disabled list.

Scutaro is not in the Giants lineup on Friday, but will be available as a pinch hitter off the bench. He's worth a look as a middle infield option in deeper mixed league formats.
Jul 11 - 8:55 PM

Jake Smolinski was removed from Friday's game against the Angels after being hit by a pitch in his arm.

He'll presumably head for X-rays and the Rangers should provide an update on his status shortly. Daniel Robertson replaced him in left field.
Jul 11 - 8:51 PM

Desmond Jennings is considered day-to-day after leaving Friday's game with a bruised left knee.

Jennings fouled a ball off his knee early in the game and was lifted for Kevin Kiermaier. Expect him to return to the Rays lineup at some point over the weekend.
Jul 11 - 8:49 PM

Tommy Medica is not in the Padres starting lineup on Friday, and is unlikely to be available the remainder of the weekend due to continued rightness in his right groin.

The Padres remain hopeful that he'll avoid a trip to the disabled list, so they'll play with a short bench for the weekend series against the Dodgers. Medica is hitting .230/.275/.410 with four homers and 13 RBI in his 122 at-bats on the season.
Jul 11 - 8:40 PM

Yoenis Cespedes is not in the Athletics starting lineup on Friday against the Mariners.

A's manager Bob Melvin indicated that Cespedes looked as though he could use a day off, and a daunting task against Felix Hernandez isn't a bad night to grab a breather. Expect to see the slugger back in the lineup on Saturday.
Jul 11 - 8:30 PM

Nolan Reimold was forced to leave Friday's game against the Rays with an apparent knee injury.

Reimold showed off his wheels, tagging up and hustling to second base on a Colby Rasmus fly out to right field, but after advancing on another fly ball from Juan Francisco, he was down for the count and holding his knee at third base. The team should provide an update on his status shortly, but a trip to the disabled list is very likely.
Jul 11 - 8:27 PM

Jordan Zimmermann was removed from Friday's start against the Phillies with an apparent injury.

No word yet on the type or extent of the injury, but it's certainly worrisome that Zimmermann called for the trainer after delivering his last pitch. He had surrendered four runs on six hits over 3 1/3 innings before departing. Look for the Nationals to provide an update on his status shortly.
Jul 11 - 8:19 PM

The Giants plan to activate Marco Scutaro (back) from the disabled list on Saturday.

There was a prevailing thought that he would rejoin the team on Friday, but it looks as though he needed an extra day. Expect him to rejoin the Giants starting lineup and make his season debut on Saturday.
