The Mets are expected to promote Johnny Monell from Triple-A Las Vegas prior to Tuesday's game.

It's not clear at this point who he'll replace on the roster, as neither Kevin Plawecki nor Anthony Recker are dealing with any known injuries. Monell is batting .397/.455/.638 with four homers at Las Vegas this season.

Rays prospect Jared Mortensen hasn't allowed a run in his last two starts for Double-A Montgomery.

Mortensen has pitched six innings or more in each of his five starts this season, putting up goose eggs in three of those. The 26-year-old isn't striking out a ton of hitters (no punchouts in his last outing), but he's also not allowing big hits. In 31 innings, the right-hander still hasn't allowed a home run this year. Overall, opponents are hitting .191 against Mortensen in 120 plate appearances.

Colby Rasmus is not in the Astros' lineup Monday.

He's sitting with the Rangers throwing lefty Ross Detwiler. Robbie Grossman is in left field in Rasmus' place.

Rougned Odor is not in the Rangers' lineup Monday.

It looks like a routine day off. Adam Rosales is at second base in Odor's place.

Jose Bautista (shoulder) won't return to playing the outfield until at least next week.

Bautista won't start throwing until later this week as he tries to manage a sore right shoulder. The good news is that he'll keep playing, remaining in the designated hitter spot.

Michael Saunders had fluid drained from his surgically-repaired left knee on Monday.

The Blue Jays don't seem to be overly worried about it, as while Saunders is not starting, he's available off the bench. The outfielder is batting just .222 with a .566 OPS in his first eight games back from the disabled list.
May 4 - 4:37 PM

Red Sox prospect Sam Travis has hit 13-for-24 (.542) with seven RBI over his last six games for Low-A Salem.

Sunday's 3-for-5 effort against Potomac extended his hitting streak to seven games. When Travis began his streak, he was only batting .173. Today, he sits at a robust .291 with a .418 slugging percentage. Travis hasn't hit for much power (only eight home runs in 351 minor league at-bats), but at 21, there's still room for him to grow.
