Doug Fister scattered seven hits and three runs over six-plus innings Sunday in the Red Sox’s loss to the Angels.

He recorded six strikeouts and three walks. Making his Boston debut against the team that just released him, Fister was shaky at times but still logged a quality start. All three runs he allowed came in the second inning. Fister may make one more start for the Red Sox, but he’ll probably be a goner when Eduardo Rodriguez returns from the disabled list.

Jackie Bradley hammered his 10th homer Sunday in the Red Sox’s loss to the Angels.

He took Parker Bridwell deep in the fifth inning, smoking a 417-foot no-doubter out to the batter’s eye in center field. Bradley got off to an excruciating start this year but has gotten back on track this month by hitting a blistering .346 with four homers over 81 June at-bats.

Mitch Moreland pounded his 11th home run of the year Sunday in the Red Sox’s loss to the Angels.

He took Parker Bridwell’s second-inning offering out to deep right center for his second round-tripper in as many games. Moreland is a streaky hitter but has done a solid job overall, slashing a respectable .270/.361/.476 over 248 at-bats in his first year with Boston.

Ben Revere keyed the Angels’ attack with three hits Sunday in a 4-2 win over the Red Sox.

All of his hits were singles. Revere also chipped in with a key stolen base in the ninth inning and later scored on an RBI single by Kaleb Cowart. Even with Mike Trout sidelined, Revere has mostly been a non-factor for the Halos, batting .221 with one homer, seven RBI and five steals. Despite his speed, he’s not getting enough at-bats to warrant fantasy consideration.

Yusmeiro Petit hurled two shutout frames for his first save Sunday in the Angels’ 4-2 win over the Red Sox.

He struck out one while throwing 19 of his 25 pitches for strikes. His only blemish was a one-out single to Andrew Benintendi in the ninth inning. The Angels have gone with a closer by committee in Bud Norris’ absence with Petit, Blake Parker and David Hernandez all handling save chances. We’re guessing Norris will maintain his ninth-inning role when he returns, which could happen later this week.

Cardinals optioned 1B Chad Huffman to Triple-A Memphis.

Huffman did a nice job during his time with the Cardinals, slashing .286/.333/.429 in only 14 at-bats. He'll return to Triple-A where he'll see everyday action until he's needed again.

Cardinals recalled 1B Luke Voit from Triple-A Memphis.

The 26-year-old had been mashing the ball at Triple-A, slashing .322/.406/.561 with 12 homers and 48 RBI in 70 games. He'll add a right-handed power option off the bench for the Cardinals.
Jun 25 - 4:31 PM

Cardinals recalled RHP Mike Mayers from Triple-A Memphis.

The 25-year-old right-hander worked exclusively as a starter at Triple-A Memphis, compiling a 3.74 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 68/27 K/BB ratio across 77 innings in his 14 starts. He'll work in a long relief role for the Cardinals.
