Francisco Lindor walked three times and scored a pair of runs Wednesday in the Indians’ 12-0 win over the White Sox.

He also added his 10th steal of the season. Lindor has already scored 56 runs, which ranks second in the majors behind only Mike Trout. He’s also tied for third in doubles with 23. With Wednesday’s win, the Indians now hold a five-game advantage over the second-place Tigers in the AL Central.

Ryan Braun is receiving an injection in his right thumb and will not play against the Pirates on Wednesday or Thursday.

It's a procedure that Braun has undergone before, and it doesn't sound like it's a serious injury. The plan is for the veteran to rejoin the Brewers in Milwaukee; and the team will be back in their home park starting on Thursday to face the Cardinals. There's a chance Braun could miss more than the two games with the injection, but it doesn't sound like he'll need to be placed on the disabled list.

Jason Kipnis bopped his sixth homer Wednesday in Cleveland’s win over the White Sox.

Kipnis capped a six-run sixth inning by slugging a three-run shot off Bruce Rondon. He was hitless in his other four at-bats. Kipnis has mostly struggled this year (.208/.282/.328 over 265 at-bats), though he’s homered twice with five RBI during his four-game hitting streak.

Jose Ramirez slammed his 22nd homer Wednesday in the Indians’ win over Chicago.

Ramirez got Cleveland on the board with a three-run bomb in the first inning. He also walked and stole a base in the fifth before scoring on Yonder Alonso’s RBI double. Ramirez was intentionally walked in the sixth and scored later in the frame on a wild pitch by Bruce Rondon. The 25-year-old now ranks second in the AL in homers (22), fourth in RBI (50), fourth in slugging (.611) and fourth in OPS (1.002). He’s right there with Mike Trout and Mookie Betts in the AL MVP race.

Yonder Alonso reached base four times Wednesday in the Indians’ victory over the White Sox.

Alonso singled in the first, plated Jose Ramirez with an RBI double in the fifth, walked and scored in the sixth and singled and scored again in the eighth. The 31-year-old has hit just .245 (13-for-53) in the month of June but Wednesday’s outburst could be a sign that he’s ready to break out.

Reynaldo Lopez was lit up for six hits and five runs (four earned) over 4 1/3 innings Wednesday in the White Sox’s loss to Cleveland.

Lopez delivered six strikeouts but also handed out four free passes over his 97 pitches. The right-hander got off to a rocky start, allowing a three-run bomb to Jose Ramirez in the first inning. He yielded another run in the fourth on an RBI single by Rajai Davis and was finally pulled after surrendering an RBI double to Yonder Alonso in the fifth inning. Lopez has limited opponents to a stingy .231 average this year, but he’s only won two of his 15 starts while struggling to a 1.66 K/BB. He’ll look for better results next time out against Minnesota.

Nationals manager Dave Martinez told reporters that Matt Wieters (hamstring) caught a bullpen recently.

It's another step forward for Wieters, who underwent hamstring surgery in May. The hope at the time was for the backstop to miss about six weeks with the injury, which would place him back with the Nationals in the early portion of July. Assuming he's not suffering any setbacks and can go on a rehab assignment soon, there's a chance he'll be back in that ETA.

Alen Hanson left Wednesday's game with a contusion in his left knee.

Hanson looked to be in significant pain after he fouled the baseball of his leg in the bottom of the first, and Kelby Tomlinson took over for the infielder. He'll likely undergo testing to make sure there's no structural damage, and we should find out more about his status by Thursday.
